Your new role

Anglicare Victoria is launching a new statewide Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) service supporting participants involved in Victoria’s therapeutic court programs, including the Assessment and Referral Court (ARC) and Court Integrated Services Program (CISP).

We are seeking experienced AOD Clinicians to join our flexible statewide team, delivering specialist AOD interventions across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

This is an opportunity for clinicians who enjoy autonomy, variety and relationship-based practice. You will work across different court locations, Anglicare Victoria sites and community settings, providing evidence-informed AOD support to people experiencing substance use challenges, mental health concerns and complex life circumstances.

You will have the opportunity to build a new way of working combining clinical expertise, outreach practice and therapeutic justice to support people to make meaningful change.

 

What is ARC and CISP?

ARC and CISP provide support to people involved in the justice system by addressing the underlying challenges that can contribute to ongoing offending, including alcohol and other drug use, mental health concerns, housing instability and social disadvantage.

You will work with participants referred through the courts and provide flexible service delivery based on individual circumstances through face-to-face appointments, outreach, telephone and online engagement.

This role is suited to clinicians who enjoy working independently, adapting their approach and building strong relationships across different services and communities.

 

Make Your Mark

Deliver evidence-informed AOD interventions

  • Complete comprehensive AOD assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Provide counselling, psychoeducation and brief interventions based on participant needs.
  • Support participants to understand their substance use and develop strategies for recovery.
  • Apply harm minimisation, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches.

Work across courts and communities

  • Provide AOD services across multiple court locations and community settings.
  • Build relationships with court teams, justice partners and community services.
  • Travel between locations as required to ensure participants can access quality support.
  • Adapt service delivery to meet the needs of metropolitan and regional communities.

Support people through meaningful change

  • Help participants address the relationship between substance use, wellbeing and offending.
  • Connect participants with broader AOD, mental health, housing and community supports.
  • Support participants through short-term, outcome-focused interventions.

Work with autonomy and professional judgement

  • Manage your own caseload and schedule within a supportive team environment.
  • Use your clinical expertise to determine the most effective way to engage each participant.
  • Contribute ideas and innovation as part of a new statewide service.

 

About You

You are an experienced AOD clinician who enjoys variety, autonomy and the opportunity to make a difference through flexible service delivery.

You will bring:

  • Experience delivering alcohol and other drug assessment, counselling and treatment interventions.
  • Strong understanding of AOD practice, dual diagnosis, harm minimisation and recovery approaches.
  • Confidence engaging people experiencing complex challenges, trauma and disadvantage.
  • Strong assessment, formulation and treatment planning skills.
  • Ability to build relationships across courts, community services and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Confidence working independently, managing competing priorities and travelling between locations.

Previous court experience is not required. We are looking for clinicians who are curious, adaptable and motivated by the opportunity to apply their skills in a new therapeutic justice environment.

 

Location and travel requirements:

You will be required to travel across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, including:

  • Box Hill.
  • Dandenong.
  • Morwell/Latrobe Valley.
  • Other court locations across Victoria as required.

Travel requirements will vary depending on location, with ARC/CISP clinicians supporting participants across multiple courts and communities.

 

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Community Services or related discipline.
  • Cert IV AOD or demonstrated AOD competencies.
  • Current Victorian Driver Licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with complex needs, justice-involved populations or community-based services.
  • Experience delivering outreach or mobile service models.
  • Understanding of therapeutic justice approaches.
