About the opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Duty and Intake Officer to join our Care and Placement Services Program. The role will work closely with the Placement Coordination Unit and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) to establish placements for children who are referred to our Care and Placement Services Program operating across Inner and Outer Gippsland.

As a Duty and Intake Officer, you will manage the daily duty system and provide information and assistance to carers, consumers, community members, volunteers and other stakeholders. The role will oversee the timely acceptance of referrals for placement from DFFH and support Case Managers with case allocation, case planning, review and case closure processes. The Duty and Intake Officer will also assist with program administration and reporting requirements.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a relevant tertiary qualification in community services, social work, welfare work or a related discipline.

You will also have:

  • Knowledge of the out of home care sector and the resources and services available across the Gippsland region
  • Demonstrated ability work collaboratively with other agencies and professionals to achieve optimal client outcomes
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem solving skills
