About your new role

You’ll provide high-quality trauma-informed practice advice and guidance to our Therapeutic Residential Services in Hampton and Dandenong, through coaching, role-modelling, and supporting staff with the application of Uniting’s Therapeutic Model of Care.

As a key care team member, you’ll conduct therapeutic assessments and develop therapeutic plans and practice advice that promote the needs of young people residing in residential care.

You will also lead reflective practice sessions with staff to problem-solve and collaboratively develop strategies and approaches that optimise young people’s healing and progress towards desired outcomes.

What you will bring

You are at your best providing in-the-home coaching, role-modelling, practical advice and therapeutic guidance to staff working with young people presenting with complex needs.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant professional discipline such as social work, psychology or social science
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in the residential care sector, including relevant legislation and regulations
  • Extensive knowledge of child development and the impact of abuse and neglect
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practice and trauma recovery principles
  • Well-developed communication, collaboration, analytical and report-writing skills
