Your new role

As the Intake and Client Support Worker, you will provide support and assistance to people seeking asylum attending the Welcome Centre. You will play a key role in helping communities empower themselves, working alongside service users, welcoming them, supporting them and offering them guidance and opportunities for support and community connection.

This role will be 2 day per fortnight position (15.2 hours per fortnight), however it will begin as a 3 day per fortnight position (22.8 hours per fortnight) between 30/06/2025 and 30/10/2025.

The role is currently based at 26 Jessie Street, Coburg. However, this position will be based out of 212 Sydney Road, Brunswick once the Asylum Seeker Welcome Centre re-opens.  

Your skills and experience
  • Tertiary Degree in Community Development or equivalent relevant degree
  • Demonstrated experience in working with asylum seekers or refugees
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and management of small projects within the community sector
  • Ability to involve and engage people who are socially isolated in order for them to develop a sense of belonging
  • Experience or understanding of trauma informed and rights based practice
