About the opportunity

Our Therapeutic Foster Care Program is designed to provide nurturing and responsive care, helping children heal from trauma and thrive. We are committed to a collaborative, inclusive approach where our carers play a crucial role as part of the care team.

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Home Based Care Therapeutic Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in delivering high-quality support to children and young people in foster care, working closely with foster carers, families, and a network of professionals. You will ensure that each child receives the specialized care they need to overcome their past experiences and achieve their full potential.

You will:

  • Support children and young people in foster care, including regular meetings with them apart from their carers.
  • Assist in the transition of children returning to their parent/guardian and prepare youth for leaving care as they reach appropriate age.
  • Handle referrals, match them to suitable caregivers, and facilitate introductions between children, young people, and caregivers.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive case notes, reports, and data collection.
  • Utilize best practice principles to provide an innovative and responsive program.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a post-secondary qualification in Welfare, Social Work, Child Development or relevant qualification (if Diploma level, willingness to study further).

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated experience in working with children, young people, families and volunteers
  • Relevant knowledge and experience in therapeutic work and
  • Demonstrated experience in case management.

Your knowledge and understanding of policies and practices of Out of Home Care will enable provision of high quality support to children and significant others.
