Head Gardener – Port Phillip

Depot Location – Wirraway Drive, Port Melbourne

Citywide is recruiting for an experience Head Gardener to provide their horticultural expertise working within the historic St Kilda Botanical Gardens.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

• Overseeing the planning and delivery of gardening services
• Planning and organising all plant cultivation and care required for floral display, herbaceous borders, perennial beds and garden beds.
• Monitor plant irrigation requirements
• Delegate work, oversee progress and coach team members as needed
• Lead the team and coordinate daily activities while also actively participating in in the completion of work
• Promote and support the team in the use of digital systems for delivery and recording of work
• Assist with the delivery of additional variation work
• Maintain good relationships with the Client and all stakeholders
• Supervise contractors
• Support a good team culture
• Maintain vehicles, plant and equipment and monitor stock levels to maintain supply

Essential Skills:

• Cert IV in Parks and Gardens or Horticulture
• Cert 3 Chemical User
• Traffic Management
• First Aid Certificate
• Excellent work ethic with ability to show initiative
• Experience in managing customer relationships
• Prior experience with leading, developing and motivating a team
• Experience working with budgets and managing costs
• Working with Children Card
• Police Check

Desirable Skills:

• MR Licence
