The Opportunity
The Executive Officer provides high level support and advice to the Director of Operations and Deputy Vice Chancellor Education and Student Experience on the operational development of the unit. This role is responsible for the preparation, analysis and interpretation of management planning, oversight and management of the operational needs of the unit including all administrative operations, (Finance, IT, Communications, Human Resources), preparation of executive reports, policy and issue papers on internal and external matters and representation of the unit at a senior level.
Who you are
- A degree with relevant work experience and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience in a senior administrative capacity with a proven understanding of strategic, political issues in the higher education sector.
- Demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence, persuade and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at a senior level.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to analyse, evaluate and summarise complex information and prepare formal correspondence, reports and recommendations.
- Extensive financial management skills with demonstrated experience in budget management and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective internal and external working relationships with the ability to exercise initiative, tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
- Experience in the development, review and implementation of operational administrative systems and processes.
- Demonstrated success in managing in managing staff to develop and foster teamwork, and to ensure a client focused approach and the achievement of team goals.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
