Why this role matters 

This is a unique opportunity to join the Injury, Violence, and Trauma research group at the School of Population Health, dedicated to reducing the global burden of injury.

Some specific accountabilities required:

  • Development and execution of complex statistical analysis plans for relevant research studies.
  • Presentation of analysis findings to stakeholder groups.
  • Preparation of peer reviewed manuscripts and reports for partners and other stakeholders on outcomes of analyses.
  • Create scholarly impact which is recognised by peers in their field as an advancement of knowledge.
  • Conduct research/scholarly activities under limited supervision, either independently or as a member of a team (as per the norms of the discipline).
  • Establish a personal research portfolio and start developing independent research proposals.
  • Design research projects.
  • Participate as co-investigator or chief investigator in competitive grant applications or show evidence of active participation in independent research.
  • Prepare abstracts and presentations for national and international meetings.
  • Assist with the supervision of research students in the research area, where required.

Some key skills required:

  • A PhD in a related discipline.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • High level skills in the analysis of large linked data sets and relevant statistical packages such as Stata, SAS, or R
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
