The Lead Adobe Solutions Architect is the principal authority guiding the design, integration and governance of solutions across the Adobe Marketing Suite and the wider marketing technology ecosystem. This role defines and communicates Adobe solution architectures that aligns with UNSW’s enterprise architecture principles and digital strategy.

Working in close partnership with Enterprise Architecture and key business stakeholders, the Lead Adobe Solutions Architect ensures that Adobe technologies are designed, integrated, and evolved to meet current and future business needs. The position provides high-level strategic and technical advice across Adobe-related platforms, developing architecture frameworks, standards, and roadmaps, and ensures architectural consistency across digital and marketing initiatives.

The role will foster strong, collaborative relationships with IT, division and faculty stakeholders, as well as with external partners, to translate diverse business needs into sustainable, enterprise-grade solutions. Drawing on deep Adobe expertise, the Lead Architect will provide high-level advice and recommendations that enhance digital capability and customer experience.

This position reports into the Head of Digital Solutions and has no direct reports.

Specific accountabilities for this role include:

  • Understand business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determine corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to deliver the goals of UNSW.
  • Lead the design & architecture of end-to-end solutions across the Digital Solutions domain and specific business applications or technologies based on our enterprise technology strategy and business requirements related to Websites and Marketing.
  • Monitor the current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies through aging of the technologies used by the application, or misalignment with business requirements.
  • Ensure solutions architecture assurance and compliance with Enterprise Standards and target state across all team deliverables.
  • Partner with Enterprise architecture to define, principles, guidelines, standards, roadmaps and initiate new strategic directions where necessary.
  • Actively work with Enterprise Architecture and take a lead role in the Architecture Competency centre to build architecture practice.
  • Facilitate the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations.
  • Identify the organisational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures or culture) and financial impact of the solutions architecture.
  • Work closely with the technology manager to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised.
  • Partner with our internal infrastructure teams as well as vendors to define the requisite infrastructure environments and modify project where necessary
  • Partner with our Engagement and Project Management teams to assist in developing business ideas, viability papers, market scans, industry scans and business cases.

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification as well as a minimum of 10 years’ professional experience in IT including at least 5 years in a Solution Architecture role.
  • Experience developing security, Integration patterns, designs and requirements in a hybrid and cloud-centric environment (e.g. AWS & Azure).
  • Experience across the Adobe stack in particular AEM, AEP and downstream systems including CRM.
  • Well-developed solution architecture and design skills, with an understanding of Industry recognised architectural frameworks
  • An understanding of Cloud (SaaS, PaaS and IaaS), and on-site deployment and integration architectures (API, messaging, iPaaS)
  • Integration architecture experience including iPaaS, API Gateways, ETL, ESB and related technologies (e.g. REST, JSON, etc).
  • Demonstrated application of solution architecture into Agile projects and modern practices such as DevOps.
  • Strong presentation skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to structure and articulate messages to different audiences at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ensuring that the underlying problem is understood, and a robust approach / solution is developed.
  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations and to propose and estimate the financial impact of architecture alternatives.
  • Sound interpersonal and presentation skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to structure and articulate messages to different audiences at all levels in an organisation.
  • Provide specialist advice on technical aspects of system development and integration (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc.) and ensure that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) are applied correctly.
  • Strong time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
