Why Your Role Matters
The UNSW Canberra Financial Services Team provides end to end finance services including budgeting, reporting, procurement, accounts payable and accounts receivable. The Senior Finance Officer will lead a team to provide operational finance services including purchasing of goods and services, customer billing, accounts receivable and expense reimbursement. The role will also perform various administrative accounting activities including general ledger maintenance. As a member of the Canberra Financial Services team the Senior Finance Officer will contribute to broader team initiatives and promote productive working relationships with Faculty and University colleagues, visitors and students. The role of Senior Finance Officer reports to the Finance Business Partner and has 4 direct reports.

 

Who You Are (skills and experience): 

 At Level 5

• Relevant degree as well as CPA or CA qualifications.

• Demonstrated relevant administrative and/ or financial services experience, including previous experience processing end to end financial transactions using computerised financial packages.

• Demonstrated high level communication ability, including the ability to negotiate with a wide range of internal and external Stakeholders in a high-volume environment.

• Highly developed organisational skills and a proven ability to work within strict deadlines in a busy and varied office environment.

• The ability to establish priorities and manage moderately complex tasks, both independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

• Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet and email, and demonstrated ability to learn and implement new systems.

At Level 6, in addition to the above

• Demonstrated experience in operational purchase to pay and/or transactional financial services within a large and diverse business.

• Ability to supervise and motivate staff and the ability to coordinate the functions of a team, to ensure the effective prioritisation and distribution of work.

• Experience in the use of initiative and process thinking to ensure continuous improvement of processes.

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills to inform, persuade and negotiate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a high-volume environment.
