About UNSW
At UNSW, we pride ourselves on being a workplace where the best people come to do their best work. We aspire to be Australia’s global university, improving and transforming lives through excellence in research, outstanding education and a commitment to advancing a just society.
Why your role matters
The Enterprise Data Office (EDO) is on the lookout for our next superstar Project Officer! Our current legend has been poached by another team (we’re proud but sad), and now we need someone just as sharp, driven, and ready to make an impact.
This is your chance to join a smart, passionate team in a growing, high-energy function with loads of meaningful work ahead. You’ll play a vital role helping deliver game-changing data projects that reduce risk and build a smarter, more data-driven university — all while unlocking big career opportunities along the way.
You’re a natural organiser, a relationship-builder, and someone who thrives when things get busy. Maybe you’re a Junior Project Manager looking for your next step—or someone experienced who just loves keeping things moving and on track.
This role reports through to the Program Manager within the Enterprise Data Office and does not have any direct reports.
Responsibilities
- Drive and support end-to-end project delivery - from planning through to execution and wrap-up
- Break down project plans into actionable tasks and keep everything (and everyone) on track
- Lead workstreams and support the EDO and project team with reporting, logistics, and stakeholder coordination
- Manage project schedules, budgets, benefits tracking, and financial processes
- Own the detail: from purchase orders to meeting agendas, email inboxes to performance metrics
- Keep systems, processes and procedures humming smoothly
- Liaise with vendors, support procurement, and ensure top-notch service and communication
- Be the trusted right-hand to the Program Manager, ready to jump in wherever needed
Skills and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training and/or experience in a similar role.
- A solid understanding of the key project management process groups, including initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing.
- Excellent organiser with a sharp eye for detail and strong time management
- Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities and keep projects on track
- Superstar in stakeholder engagement — confident navigating large, complex organisations and building strong working relationships
- Trusted 2IC who can manage up and support senior leaders effectively
- Skilled in preparing high-quality meeting minutes, reports, presentations, and project documentation
- Confident managing budgets, financial tracking, and supporting strong project governance
- Strong communicator with excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal skills
- Works independently and takes initiative — able to self-manage while staying aligned with team goals
- Tech-savvy with advanced Microsoft Office skills, plus familiarity with MS Project or similar tools
Bonus:
- Experience in a university or large, complex organisation
- Interest in data governance or digital/data programs
