Position Summary

The Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice contributes to UNSW’s combined teaching and research track, delivering high-quality education across pharmacy programs, including the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Medicine / Master of Pharmacy. The role supports student development in contemporary and extended scopes of practice through innovative, research-informed teaching and simulation-based learning, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards.

As part of the pharmacy discipline team, the position also develops a research program in health services and pharmacy practice, contributing to curriculum development and advancing educational and research excellence within the School and Faculty.

The role delivers high-quality pharmacy practice education through practical, clinical and simulation-based teaching, including the design of learning activities, assessments and resources. It supports student progression and employability, contributes to course coordination and quality assurance, participates in clinical assessments, and engages in school activities. The position also undertakes research aligned with the discipline, contributing through professional expertise and practice.

Some key skills required: 

  • A PhD in pharmacy and maintenance of currency in registration from the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Evidence and maintenance of professional development in research methods, pedagogy, disciplinary knowledge and professional accreditation.
  • Demonstrated excellence in patient communication and practice skills, and recent clinical and research experience in gathering and utilizing patient information to support patient care.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching pharmacy practice skills including health services research methods, clinical reasoning, management planning, prescribing and communication.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching research methods and clinical therapeutics.
  • Significant experience in research including grant application and success, HDR student supervision and high-quality publication. • Evidence of professional development in teaching and research with a strong track record of teaching and research excellence, including fostering this in others; with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning, teaching and research practice. • Demonstrated success in initiating and sustaining research collaborations across the school, faculty, wider university and beyond. • Demonstrated ability in the teaching and research mentorship and leadership within the pharmacy discipline.
