Position Summary

The Senior Education & Teaching Support Manager is a senior strategic leadership position within UNSW Medicine & Health, providing Faculty-wide leadership and operational oversight of education, teaching and student experience support during a significant period of educational transformation. As a member of the Faculty’s senior professional leadership team, the role leads the development and implementation of a future-focused operating model, bringing together teaching support, education and student support, and education development functions to deliver high-quality, consistent and sustainable services across schools, programs and campus-based environments.

A key focus of the position is transformation and change leadership, service integration and operational excellence. Working closely with senior academic and professional leaders, the role will redesign service delivery models and workflows, strengthen governance and consistency, optimise workforce deployment, and embed technology, automation, AI-enabled tools and data to support scalable and contemporary ways of working. The position will provide strategic leadership and oversight across a significant portfolio of transformative initiatives, including:

  • Faculty-wide curriculum transformation and implementation of program-level assessment
  • Transition to a Flex-Semester calendar
  • Medicine Program redesign
  • Replacement of the eMed platform and implementation of the Risr ePortfolio
  • Implementation of the University’s future Learning Management System
  • Expansion of clinical placements and work integrated learning across Health Sciences programs
  • Growth in hospital-based and simulation-based learning activities across multiple health disciplines
  • Establishment of a graduate-entry Nursing Program

The role also provides significant workforce leadership, leading and developing a high-performing management team and building the capability, structures and workforce plans required to support future education models and changing service requirements.

The Senior Education & Teaching Support Manager provides strategic advice to Faculty leadership on education operations, workforce planning, organisational capability and service delivery, while overseeing integrated Faculty-wide support across teaching operations, assessment, curriculum administration, academic quality, accreditation, student experience and work integrated learning. Through strong partnerships across the Faculty, University and external clinical and education networks, the role will foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability and continuous improvement while ensuring education services remain responsive, efficient and focused on outstanding educational and student outcomes.

Some key skills required: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and extensive senior leadership experience in higher education or a comparable complex environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading large operational portfolios and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Significant experience leading organisational transformation, service redesign and change management initiatives.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing strategic plans and operating models.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale operational change associated with technology implementation and business process transformation.
  • Extensive experience managing complex stakeholder environments and influencing senior leaders.
  • Strong understanding of higher education teaching, curriculum, student administration and quality assurance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated capability in workforce planning, resource management and organisational development.

Desirable

  • Experience leading educational transformation programs within a university environment.
  • Experience implementing major enterprise technology platforms supporting teaching and learning.
  • Understanding of clinical education, placements and health professional accreditation requirements.
  • Experience using technology, data analytics and AI-enabled solutions to improve service delivery and operational efficiency
