Why Your Role Matters:
UNSW's LMS transformation is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to lift learning across every Faculty. As Learning Design Lead, you will own the learning content migration and uplift that turns a new platform into a coherent, high-quality experience for students and the staff who teach and support them.
You will connect LMS delivery with the Academic Calendar and Curriculum Transformation programs, aligning Faculty course redesign, migration priorities and pedagogical innovation so the University moves forward with purpose and consistency.
Reporting to the LMS Program Director and leading up to ten direct reports, you will provide strategic educational leadership, set frameworks and templates, and guide a large cross-university program through complexity, competing priorities and change.
Your influence will extend from Faculty relationships and course quality to digital learning, teaching and assessment practice, establishing a culture of professionalism, accountability and continuous improvement that endures beyond the transformation.
Responsibilities Summary:
- Lead tactical and strategic projects related to LMS transformation, defining priorities for teaching and the student experience through expert educational leadership and a collaborative, aligned approach.
- Own the design and implementation of LMS program activities that enable transformation, including frameworks, approaches and templates that support a positive student experience, educational excellence and enhanced learning.
- Be accountable for the successful migration of every UNSW taught course from every Faculty to the new LMS, aligned with Curriculum Transformation and the pedagogical innovation enabled by the platform.
- Maximise alignment in Faculty course redesign and development across Curriculum Transformation and LMS migration, supporting consistent standards while respecting the needs of different disciplines and teaching contexts.
- Own and manage strategic relationships with all Faculties in relation to course migration, building shared understanding of expectations, system use, support, initiatives and opportunities.
- Lead the development and adoption of innovative practices across the University in digital learning, teaching and assessment to enhance student learning and the student experience.
- Set strategic guidance for LMS teams and relevant Curriculum Transformation activities, using professional expertise and ongoing dialogue with students and academic colleagues to establish priorities.
- Establish productive relationships with Schools, Faculties, central units and external stakeholders, keeping partners informed, engaged and knowledgeable about education initiatives and delivery requirements.
- Set priorities and monitor workflows and systems, providing responsive, outcome-focused guidance to students, Faculties, Schools and central units within agreed service expectations.
- Lead, manage and develop a team of up to ten staff, creating a collegial, team-based learning environment that delivers high-quality services and stakeholder outcomes.
- Establish a culture of professionalism, accountability and continuous service improvement across Curriculum Transformation and Flex-semester implementation, and support education initiatives in the Teaching Commons as required.

Skills and Experience Summary:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications with a significant and sustained record of teaching expertise and innovation, together with an academic reputation that supports authoritative leadership in education and student experience.
- Experience establishing, defining and managing learning content development and migration in a Curriculum Transformation and/or LMS migration within a university context.
- Experience leading strategic projects related to LMS transformation and/or other similar transformational program, including program governance reporting.
- Proven leadership of innovation in learning and teaching, with demonstrated experience leading multiple staff in a large university and building a high-performing team.
- Proven ability to create and maintain a collegial, team-based learning approach in higher education that produces high-quality services and stakeholder outcomes.
- Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills, including the ability to build trusted networks with internal and external stakeholders across government and national or international education communities.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice, manage competing priorities and make sound judgements across complex, university-wide education initiatives.
- Enthusiasm for educational opportunities, including those provided by digital innovation, with the ability to translate emerging practice into meaningful improvements in learning and teaching.
- Demonstrated ability to model UNSW Behaviours, work beyond the boundaries of an individual School or Faculty and build a high-performing organisation based on common values.
