Engineering Manager – Cloud & Infrastructure
Our Technology team plays an essential role supporting online and physical Westfield destinations through digital platforms and infrastructure services, creating technology solutions for retail partners, supporting our people to be effective and enabling best-in-class cyber security.
With this broad remit, our Technology team has capability across almost all technology disciplines, so you’ll be part of a diverse and highly skilled team.
As the the Engineering Manager you will be responsible for operating and maintaining core infrastructure delivering and driving an agile, stable, and secure platform across our public and private clouds, data centres and destination centres. This role ensures that our platforms are scalable, secure, and reliable to meeting the organisations ongoing needs. The role ensures operational efficiency, oversees enhancement projects, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver business objectives while maintaining high service levels and operational excellence with the ability to switch between management and hands-on as required.
Day-to-day you will be responsible for:
- Overseeing day-to-day business operations to ensure smooth and efficient processes across the Cloud & Infrastructure (C&I) capability.
- Managing the C&I team, providing guidance, prioritisation, development, training, and performance management to ensure effective execution of responsibilities. This role requires you to be hands on and capable of getting on the tools when required.
- Developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) to drive consistency and quality in operations.
- Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Identifying operational risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimise disruptions.
- Ensuring all operational processes comply with industry & security regulations and internal policies.
What sets you apart
- A track record of building high performing teams or coming from a Technical background looking to build leadership capability
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud) with GCP experience preferred
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform)
- Experience leading DevOps and automation best practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of Technology & Cyber Security landscapes
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written with both technical and non-technical
- Demonstrated ability to "connect the dots" across senior and executive stakeholder groups, right through to operations and partner organisations
- Excellent vendor and commercial management
- Trusted partner and advisor to key stakeholder boards and committees.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence.
You will have:
- Leadership capability in managing high performing teams including development and performance management
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues within the platform.
- Strong analytical skills to optimise performance and scalability.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills.
- The ability to effectively present information to different target audiences both verbally and in writing.
