As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.
You will be working with a team of researchers in the Future Communications Translation Lab (FCTLab), the primary responsibility of this role is to investigate, analyse, and enhance end-to-end security in the 5G testbed, support the development, testing and validation of 5G security use cases and applications, in collaboration with industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate network slice-based firewall policy, focusing on behavior of the slice to enhance End-to-End (E2E) security.
- Implement and test a feedback system to continuously refine security policies, ensuring the minimization of false alarms and positives.
- Conduct simulations and security testing across all points of the 5G network, including User Equipment (UE), Radio Access Network (RAN), and Core network, to assess and improve E2E security.
- Utilize the FCTLab Testbed for rigorous security testing and integrate findings to update security policies dynamically.
- Perform, create and maintain a centralized knowledge base of best practices, case studies, and research findings related to 5G cybersecurity, to support policy-making initiatives.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field; certifications in cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM) preferred.
- Proficient in programming in C and Python, with experience in embedded Linux environments.
- Demonstrated capability in conducting high-level security tests and feasibility studies in collaborative industrial-academic research settings.
- Strong technical expertise in 5G technologies, including network slicing and E2E security considerations.
