Platform Manager, Business Intelligence

Universal Orlando Resort believes in-person collaboration is key to our success. Many of our Team Members work in a hybrid capacity, contributing from the workplace a minimum of three days per week. JOB SUMMARY:

This role will oversee our strategic Business Intelligence (BI) platforms. The role involves managing and optimizing the existing BI platforms, ensuring their stability, scalability, and performance while collaborating with cross-functional business units to deliver tailored BI solutions. Key responsibilities include developing and executing the BI strategy, ensuring data quality and integration, providing technical leadership, and driving the adoption of a rationalized Business Intelligence landscape.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Platform Management and Development

  • Oversee the architecture, design and implementation of BI platforms.
  • Ensure the BI platforms are scalable, sustainable and secure.
  • Manage platform upgrades, enhancements and maintenance activities.
  • Monitor the performance of BI systems and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Implement best practices for performance tuning and optimization.
  • Analyze system performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure the BI platforms meet the diverse needs of different stakeholders.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with business units to understand their BI needs and requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, collaborating with business and technical data owners to ensure the best solution for connectivity.
  • Drive BI standards and best practices throughout the enterprise.
  • Showcase and provide resources on UDX brand standards and legal obligations.
    • Develop a user group forum for BI developers across the enterprise to share tips, tricks and learnings through their experiences with the platform.
  • Lead BI teams and citizen developers on how to best drive BI projects from inception to completion.
  • Develop project plans, timelines and budgets.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of projects.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and maintain a Business Intelligence Center of Excellence to help drive BI success across the enterprise, fostering a culture data and governance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous importance and professional development.
  • Lead team to drive BI standards including documented procedures and processes.

Data Governance and Quality.

  • Implement data governance policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Data Governance Office on proper implementation of data governance tools on the BI platform.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or in a relevant applied quantitative field is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience with BI platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, Domo, Einstein Analytics.
  • 5+ years of SQL knowledge
  • 5+ Technical knowledge of relational database design principles and experience partnering with enterprise IT teams.
  • Skilled at converting strategy and business requirements into technology requirements and working within business and IT to manage the execution of projects.
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Extensive experience in developing automated data pipeline, workflows, intelligence-based monitoring, alerts and reporting and ability to work with data architects, scientists, BI SMEs developing complex data enablement solutions.
