JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible to support Environmental management for Universal Orlando Resort. Supervises the day-day regulated waste operations, storage and shipments across property. Conducts waste evaluations, creates waste profiles, and oversees the management of waste inventories. Manages the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans. Supervises the emergency response cleanup efforts. Facilitates the hiring, training and scheduling of team members for work areas. Schedules and facilitates all waste sampling for proper profiling. Ensures waste operations and disposal complies with federal, state and local regulations and permits.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the management of regulated waste generation and disposal across property including hazardous, biomedical, petroleum, and universal waste. Performs biennial regulatory reporting. Ensure storage areas are following federal, state and local regulations. Supervises emergency response cleanup.
  • Supervises SPCC inspections. Manages the SPCC plans including 6-month plan updates.
  • Interfaces with various departments on a daily basis to ensure delivery of quality product and service. Provide guidance to departments that generate regulated waste.
  • Participates in budgetary responsibilities for waste management.
  • Trains, develops and schedules environmental affairs team members by administering Universal Orlando policies and procedures, to include disciplinary action, counseling, attendance tracking, hiring and performing staffing selections.
  • Maintains records of all regulated waste and SPCC inspections and manifests. Reviews action plans for trends and communicates findings to department Senior Manager.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Chemical Engineering, or other related field is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, 40-hr HAZWOPER Training or other equivalent certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 3 years of environmental experience in an industrial setting or related consulting required.
  • Experience should include EHS management system implementation, risk assessment, supervision, planning, scheduling.
  • Theme Park specific experience is highly preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Job requires active coordination with multiple departments/clients across property.
  • Must be able to analyze and assess laboratory results for proper profiling of waste.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
