JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Director, Executive Producer – Portfolio is responsible for project delivery across the assigned portfolio by interfacing with the studio in early project development, functioning as a key stakeholder; managing creative development and project execution post concept phase. They work with closely with the Creative Studio and park partners establishing project delivery strategy, budget, analyzing and identifying talent needs, establishing project schedules, developing vendor strategies, and communicating all appropriate information to the various business units or divisions to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and on brand.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Portfolio Delivery - The Director, Executive Producer - Portfolio, is responsible for ensuring that the Portfolio/Project’s creative vision (as defined by the Studio at Concept) is delivered across all guest areas. From Gate 0 - Concept, they act as a key stakeholder in project reviews, interfacing with Studio Creative Leadership. As part of the Portfolio/Project leadership team, they lead the team post-concept, overseeing the development, review, buyout, and management of scopes, contracts, cost estimates, schedules, strategies, and work plans to achieve the Portfolio or Project's business objectives and creative intent. Ensures that guest experience and creative design intent are thoroughly developed, documented, and maintained. Manages and coordinates with internal and external resources throughout production and installation to align Creative Intent, Attraction Scopes, Close-out Documentation, and Quality Standards with the project’s creative vision.
- Portfolio Leadership - Collaborates with Creative Studio leaders to manage full-cycle homeroom and evaluations for team members, including Producers, Coordinators, Creative Directors, Art Directors, and Designers. Partners with Studio leadership on promotions, and career progression for project-assigned creative team members. Evaluates staff on creative, technical, leadership, and interpersonal skills, and negotiates external resources as needed.
- Project Reporting and Accountability - Manages, interprets, communicates and presents Project health and development progress, post concept to a variety of audiences throughout the Project lifecycle. Develops, manages and reports status on production budgets and schedules.
- IP Continuity - Ensures conformance with 3rd Party Licensors as required and defined by Creative Strategy.
- Liaises with individual park implementation teams on the development of new projects and updating the client parks on status of current projects.
- Leadership: Leads best in class culture, which promotes innovation, collaboration and problem-solving. Inspires and motivates teams by leading with optimism and a solution-oriented approach, drives for results. Aligns to DE&I focus across corporate culture and business.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Strong design, production and management portfolio.
- Knowledge of design management, work planning, budgeting, scheduling, bid package preparation and variety of vendors.
- Knowledge of theme park technologies including ride, A/V, robotics, engineering, and various show systems.
- Knowledge of theme park related architectural, project management, organizational, and production/construction practices.
- Demonstrates ability to lead creative and technical teams on multiple complex attraction projects.
- Instills a spirit of teamwork and promote staff development.
- Makes independent choices free from immediate supervision.
- Possesses solid aesthetic sensibilities and storytelling skills to support the creative process and to facilitate positive and productive communication between all disciplines.
- Must possess good aesthetic and creative judgment.
- Must be a clear communicator able to collaborate with senior management.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Travel is required depending upon Project needs.
- Role requires a high degree of collaboration and teamwork with Internal and External Partners.
- Requires highly effective communication skills.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree: Theatrical Arts, Theme Park Associated Design or related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred: 10+ Years: experience in theme park design and design management.
Required: 10+ Years: experience in theatrical, theme park or other media related design/production field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience as a Sr. Show Producer for several (3+) theme park attraction projects from Design through Installation; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
