JOB SUMMARY:
Manages the business of Scenic/Décor/Props for Marquee and Capital projects assigned. Manages all phases of design process: from creative development through the budgeting, purchasing of décor/props, plus executing installation and strike. Functions as the Design liaison working with Production Management, Technical Entertainment, Entertainment Park Operations, Designers, Art Supervisors, and décor crews to manage scopes, calendars, financials, outside vendors and to interface with other departments within UO.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages overall processes of art and design from blue sky to production from a Scenic, Decorator, Props capability.
- Hire and oversee the crews for prep, install, strike/restock.
- Develop budgets, schedules, Kronos and purchasing.
- Oversee all set decorating and prop requirements.
- Manage and oversee budget projections for all scenic, signage, set decorating, and prop requirements for projects. Manage the budget processes for all services utilized by the project – through prep, installation and reconciliation.
- Manages all staff, regular team members and vendors hired to execute the scenic work for assigned projects. Oversees crews during installation to execute the design intent for the décor and props. Oversees the strike and restock of scenic and décor. Interviews and hires new seasonal talent.
- Manage vendor interface by acquiring estimates for design elements. Work with UO purchasing to get pricing and to manage process.
- Oversees the management and allocation of all Scenic, Set Dressing/Prop inventories. Resources include, but not limited to tools, equipment, fabrics, paint, prop materials, décor and signage.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ Years: experience with set design, décor/set dressing within a professional Art Department of Theater, Film and TV and/or Theme Parks preferred.
- 3-5 Years: experience in an Art Department lead role with supervisory experience, management of budgets and resources preferred.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Manages all aspects of Art Department execution of projects assigned, including research, purchasing, bid process, budgets, installation and strike.
- Prior supervisory experience in set installation, supervising technical crews.
- Prior financial project management experience preferred.
