JOB SUMMARY:
The Coordinator, Qualitative Field Research will assist with qualitative projects conducted by our Field teams in Hollywood and Orlando, working closely with the Qualitative and Ethnographic Team and Field Leadership to train and monitor quality assurance on new continual and ad hoc qualitative Field projects. The main function of this role is to ensure the integrity and reliability of qualitative data through rigorous quality control processes and inter-coding reliability checks, providing individual Team Member feedback to the Qualitative Field Leadership and Field Leadership Teams. Additionally, this role involves motivating, coaching, and developing team members, conducting in-field performance evaluations, and engaging in strategic planning, resource management, and communication. Secondary duties include assisting in the development, implementation, and follow-through of the Qualitative Field Research operational training program. The coordinator will also engage in data collection, coding, and analysis as required/appropriate, acting as a key liaison between the field teams and senior management. This position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver qualitative research trainings
- Develop and maintain comprehensive training materials and presentations that are relevant, up-to-date, and aligned with the latest qualitative research methodologies and best practices.
- Continuously evaluate and refine training materials to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and consistency, incorporating feedback from trainees and stakeholders.
- Provide detailed feedback to the Qualitative Field Research Sr. Manager on training initiatives, highlighting areas of success and opportunities for improvement.
- Deliver and facilitate structured training and development programs and initiatives in support of the Consumer Insight’s qualitative research training plan and objectives.
- Conduct engaging and interactive training sessions that cater to various learning styles, ensuring all team members are well-equipped to perform their roles effectively.
- Utilize a variety of training techniques and tools, including hands-on exercises, role-playing, and real-world scenarios, to enhance learning and retention.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of training programs through evaluations, surveys, and performance metrics, adjusting as needed to improve outcomes.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in qualitative research to incorporate new knowledge and techniques into training programs.
- Monitor qualitative data quality post-collection and develop Team Members
- Track individual Team Member performance for the Qualitative Field Leadership and Field Leadership teams, identifying areas for improvement and providing targeted feedback. Provide detailed reports on data quality metrics and performance evaluations to senior management, highlighting key findings and actionable insights.
- Conduct comprehensive monthly inter-coder reliability checks for coders on both coasts to ensure consistency and accuracy in data coding.
- Respond to questions sent to the coding e-mail distribution lists, offering expert guidance and support to team members.
- Collaborate with the Qualitative Field Research Sr. Manager to identify skill gaps and develop individualized development plans for team members.
- Provide mystery shop operational support through verifying and error checking QRA reports.
- Provide targeted feedback and coaching to team members based on performance evaluations and data quality assessments and conduct regular review sessions to discuss data quality issues, share best practices, and identify areas for improvement.
- Recognize and reward outstanding performance and contributions to maintain high levels of motivation and engagement within the team.
- Facilitate open communication and collaboration among team members to promote knowledge sharing and collective problem-solving.
- Engage in data collection and coding
- Conduct ad hoc interviews and observations
- Identify themes deductively and inductively to code data
- Conduct applied thematic analyses to analyze datasets
- Synthesize data into cohesive, evidence-based narratives
- Administrative Support and Oversight
- Compile, update, and maintain data on spreadsheets and word processing documents.
- Record and disseminate meeting minutes.
- Assist with the check-in/check-out process for qualitative projects at the Media Center.
- Maintain files and create SOP documents for qualitative team processes.
- Disseminate sensitive materials to the appropriate areas.
- Create individual schedules to ensure projects are sufficiently covered and team members are effectively utilized.
- Reconcile payroll to ensure accurate and timely compensation for team members.
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and monitor daily technology concerns involving safety or maintenance to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Track inventory levels and make recommendations on the purchase of new equipment to ensure the team has the necessary tools and resources to perform their roles effectively.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SCOPE:
- Candidates for this role must be able to multi-task, have strong organizational and documentation skills, as well as leadership experience. This position requires strict adherence to protocols and guidelines, as well as attention to detail. Coordinators, Qualitative Field Research must be able to read and type fluently in English as well as use the required technology, such as laptops and smart phones, to complete their reports. Coordinators, Qualitative Field Research must consistently show interpersonal tact, discretion, and sensitivity – as well as be able to personally handle rejection and encourage team members who experience rejection during intercept.

EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree-seeking or Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Human Factors, Market Research, or other Social Science or Business Field with research specialization is required for this role.
EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years of experience in qualitative research, data collection, or a related field required.
- 1+ years of leading a team, clerical, customer service, data entry, computer experience preferred.
- Qualitative field leadership experience is a plus.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
