JOB SUMMARY:

As a Specialist Electrical Technician at Universal Studios Orlando, you will be responsible for the installation, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment and systems across property. This role covers a wide range of electrical systems, from 24 volts to 1000 volts. You will work on various attractions, facilities, and infrastructure, ensuring that all electrical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with electrical code and UO standards.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Service and repair park wide electrical systems ranging from 24 volt to 1000 volt including, but not limited to: Main Distribution Panels (MDP), sub-panels, circuit breakers, disconnects, electrical relays, and all connected devices. Manage lighting infrastructure including the maintenance and troubleshooting of common area lighting, area development lighting, emergency lighting, lighting relay racks, DMX lighting, and lighting control systems.
  • Service, troubleshoot, and repair electrical motors and motor control systems of all types, including AC/DC motors, stepper motors, servo motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Service, troubleshoot, and repair all EV charging systems, including Level 1, Level 2, DC fast chargers, all related equipment, and protective devices.
  • Provide electrical inspection to ensure safety for electrical systems and components throughout UO buildings. These electrical inspections to ensure compliance with ASTM F24 Standards, NEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, NFPA 780, NEMA 250, UL508A, IEEE and Universal Standards. Other compliance includes but is not limited to standards from CSA, EN, DIN, ISO, and IEC. Inspect electrical work for compliance with code requirements for wire insulation type, wire size, correct terminations (ferrules, lugs, etc.), stranded or solid wire, wire color and placement, number of wires, coding of electrical phases, grounding/shielding & bonding, wire numbering, voltages, etc. Perform quality conformity checks on electrical work.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostic, and repair on solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including solar panels, inverters, batteries, mounting equipment, and all connected components to ensure optimal operation and efficiency. Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance, and submit any necessary permits and documentations for all permittable electrical installations and repairs.
  • Assist High Voltage Team during emergency situations, helping with troubleshooting and repair of the High Voltage infrastructure including, pad mounted transformers, air switches, medium voltage vacuum breakers, and all connected equipment.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Technical school is preferred;
  • Associate degree (AA) is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 6+ years equivalent experience in industrial and commercial construction, maintenance facility or a fast-paced service company dedicated to electrical repair is required.
  • 1+ year in theme park industry is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • A valid Florida Drivers’ License is required to operate company vehicles.
  • Additionally, a Journeyman, Contractor, or Masters licenses with a minimum of 8,000 hours of relevant job experience that is issued by a Municipality, City, County, State, for Electrical is required.
