JOB SUMMARY:
Under general direction of the Legal Affairs department, the Attorney is responsible for drafting, negotiating and interpreting complex commercial contracts and legal review of domestic and international technology projects including review of issues related to consumer privacy, information security, digital marketing, and artificial intelligence.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with negotiating, drafting and interpreting sophisticated information technology transactions, including licenses, software development agreements, and cloud services agreements.
- Provide general legal support for digital and technology initiatives including researching applicable laws and regulations, negotiating, drafting and interpreting agreements, and advising on regulatory and contractual compliance obligations relating to consumer privacy, information security, digital marketing and artificial intelligence.
- Assist with drafting policies and procedures and development of training surrounding technology compliance obligations and contractual requirements.
- Provide oversight and management and tracking of corporate technology compliance.
- Manage special projects domestically and internationally.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Juris Doctor or LLM required from an accredited law school.
EXPERIENCE:
- At least 2 years’ post-law school experience, as an attorney, preferably with a law firm or corporate legal department.
- At least 2 years’ experience interpreting, negotiating and drafting complex technology agreements.
- Experience advising as to legal matters related to privacy, information security, digital marketing, and artificial intelligence, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Member of State Bar (Florida or California preferred)
- Sound business judgment, and flexibility/adaptability to manage multiple wide-ranging matters, conflicting deadlines, and new areas of expertise as business needs change.
- Proven ability and commitment to work both independently and collaboratively with numerous people at all levels throughout the company.
- Demonstrated ability, in a positive, commercial and practical manner, to identify, prioritize and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Word as well as Internet and web-based training tools.
- Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Strong contract drafting for commercial agreements.
- Proven capability to lead and drive change in a corporate environment.
- Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong prioritization and time management skills
- Must be a self-starter capable of working with various elements within a diverse organization to provide the highest level of service
