JOB SUMMARY

Provides subject matter expertise on one or more Ride and/or Show system disciplines, that include but are not limited to - Audio, Special Effects, Projection, Lighting, Set/Scenic, Props, Show Action Equipment, Animated Figures, Ride Mechanical Systems, Ride Control, or Show Control Systems. Performs research, development, review, approval, and technical analysis under an area of responsibility. May be assigned to a project team to provide support under an area of responsibility. Ensures internal and external specifications are being met.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Mentor and lead ride/show Team Members on technical requirements in support of existing park expansion and/or venue development involving software systems and/or software development scopes of work.
• Reviews and/or produces documentation related to software design and architecture to ensure alignment with deliverables specified in the scope of work. This includes drafting design specifications, technical requirements, hardware procurements, system architecture diagrams, and project roadmaps. Actively supports the entire development lifecycle.
• Makes direct engineering contributions to projects as required. Performs Show and Ride systems research, contributions to show and ride systems scope, specification, design or analysis, field assistance for installation, test, and adjust.
• Maintains, modifies as required, enforces, and interprets Universal's specifications, standards, and technical contracting methods. Assists with updates for Show and Ride technical specifications.
• Supports the design and delivery of software systems by ensuring the system(s) meet the portability, maintainability, reliability, operability, serviceability, supportability, and safety parameters. Verifies systems meet all quality control requirements.
• Ensures all Show and Ride equipment maintains the highest level of safety in accordance with Universal Specifications, accepted manufacturing practices and local standards.
• Oversees technical analyses performed to assist in determining feasibility of software system(s) to mitigate risk for project delivery.
• Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities. 
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Ability to support integration with cloud-based and on-premises AI infrastructure, optimizing workflows and ensuring seamless operation with existing systems.
• Participate in research and development for new AI technologies, including generative models and agentic systems, to improve guest and operational experiences.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Creative, Engineering, and Operations, to implement AI solutions that enhance guest experiences and improve operational efficiency.
• Comfortable influencing decisions of major nature. High degree of tact & diplomacy to obtain favorable decisions or maintain goodwill.
• Comfortable working in a non-routine environment with frequently changing situations

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in applicable technical field required (examples include, but are not limited to, Control Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, System Engineering) or equivalent demonstrated skill and experience; Advanced Degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in technical/software engineering roles, preferably in entertainment or theme park industries, supporting software integration and/or development required (examples include, but are not limited to Python, C++, AI, and Unreal development) or similar experience in related technical field. 5+ Years: Technical experience within the entertainment/theme park/software development industry required. Any experience in Theme Park development, construction, show and ride systems design or fabrication is preferred.
