JOB SUMMARY:

Assists the Manager, Planning & Area Development Design in site planning, area development, and environmental design of new and existing projects.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides land use and area development/site specific designs in support of the environmental design of Theme Park and Resort wide projects, accomplished with in-house support of the project team or various consultants. Assists with the design layout of site components for: new Theme Parks, Immersive Lands, Standalone Attractions, Hotels, or other resort components. Assists with the layout of specific and detailed design phases of lands/building massing, water conveyance and retention, parking, open space, access/egress points, vehicular and pedestrian circulation, landscape areas, etc. into a comprehensive site plan or series of site plans and illustrations to convey the thematic environment. Assists with phases of preliminary/site planning design through concept documentation including the RFP process by coordinating with the design team, operations, consultants and project management staff. Performs presentations and interfaces with the various teams/project management staff during and at the completion of each phase of design to validate design intent and cost targets.
  • Participates with planning/site development new projects. Is a creative and technical contributor to the immersive environment by developing the site plan and area development designs.
  • Researches and diagrams site constraints and solutions for all aspects for a new project including: creative placemaking, operational requirements, guests circulation, planting areas, landscape material selection, hardscape design, FOH/BOH integration, transportation/EVA requirements, and all other elements of the area development scope.
  • Assists the planning and area development design management team with the evaluation of plant material and the need for a procurement strategy and tree farm/nursery program etc.
  • Interfaces with consultants during design phases from ideation through concept documentation and planning through project administration.
  • Works within the team environment to help maintain common cost/schedule goals.
  • Interfaces with UDX staff for on-going quality control.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

SCOPE:

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, or equivalent required. Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 

3+ Years: Relevant landscape architecture and planning experience with a focus on theme park & resort development required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
