JOB SUMMARY:
This is an exciting and highly influential role that will drive the development of divisional strategic planning, conceiving new and innovative ways to deliver long term growth and go-to-market strategies driven by teams globally. Will serve as key internal partner and collaborator for senior executives and functional leaders across the Universal Merchandise and Retail organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of IP management, product development, supply chain, and retail with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic Business Planning:
- Collaboratively lead the development of the company's global long-range strategic business plans to modernize our global merchandise and retail organization into a best-in-class consumer products merchant. Assess and identify key capabilities, technologies, analytic product needs, resources, and organizational processes needed to deliver operational excellence and long-term goals.
- Help lead and support broader UDX (Universal Destination and Experiences) transformation efforts from ideation, planning, and through multi-year execution phases. Work across functional teams to develop business cases for multiple initiatives, including financial outlays, long-range incremental revenue, and detailed project plans to secure leadership buy-in to support investment.
- Partner with domestic and international sites to identify best practices and gaps to better enable global approach to business and consistency in effectiveness across organizations. Build common set of integrated long range planning tools and KPIs to drive strategic decision making and alignment among markets.
- Business Development:
- Identify and propose potential business development opportunities, including mergers & acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and new expansion opportunities (IP, category, audience, distribution). Work collaboratively with UDX Strategy and Corporate Strategy teams in developing proposals and integrating workstreams across stakeholders.
- Lead the due diligence process and business case development for multi-year capital projects including revenue modeling, cost analytics, one-time startup needs, operational expenses, ongoing labor resourcing, and ROI evaluation in partnership with several departments across the UDX organization.
- Conduct comprehensive market research and competitive analysis to identify industry trends, growth opportunities, and potential risks. Partner with business analytics and work collaboratively across functions to identify long term revenue optimization and per capita spending opportunities.
- Integrated Operational Management:
- Manage cross-functional teams to execute multi-department dependent strategic projects and presentations, ensuring timely completion and achievement of objectives. Develop project plans, build consensus, break logjams, and drive consistent progress against timelines and budgets.
- Identify internal process, organizational, or systems issues with large or broad downstream commercial impacts and work across departments to conduct root cause analysis and identify practical solutions. Form and lead cross-functional task forces to tackle and solve problems.
- Serve an in-house consultant to functional teams to frame business problems, assist in strategic thinking and analysis, and design new frameworks and processes. Requires operational experience and strong working knowledge of the businesses we operate in, to have credibility with departmental leaders.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- MBA or a master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years of consumer products, strategy, and retail experience. Prior experience in major media/entertainment company, national/global retailer, and/or branded manufacturer required.
- Strong organizational savvy with experience working in a highly matrixed organizations and the ability to persuade decision makers to build alignment and consensus across a broad range of stakeholders.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills with the ability to cogently communicate and present to executives and senior leaders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and develop actionable insights.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with multiple workstreams and constant change.
