Power Platform Specialist, Operational Excellence Analytics

JOB SUMMARY:

Owns and maintains critical operating data related to all areas of Park & Resort Operations and Operational Excellence. Oversees multiple projects with the creation of reports, dashboards, and Power Platform applications through independent work, translating the demonstrated needs from business partners and providing recommendations to further enhance the project upon implementation. Reviews trends to make recommendations and inform direct leadership and executive leadership of resort performance. Regularly creates reports using Power BI, Excel, and SQL. Regularly works with SQL databases, including Snowflake and Azure. Suggest and implement business improvements via the Microsoft Power Platform. Oversight of projects with adjusting priorities, including maintaining and updating all reports, databases, apps, and automations owned by the Operational Excellence team. Serves as a liaison by collecting, compiling, collaborating, and sharing data with various individuals or divisions to assist with their reporting needs and requests through the utilization of Microsoft Power Platforms, including Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Owns, creates, and maintains Park & Resort Operations and Operational Excellence reports. Analyzes and compiles data daily to complete scheduled reports and ad hoc requests. Implements new tools and reports to create business improvements across the resort. Responsible for analyzing, compiling and communicating out daily, weekly and monthly Park & Resort Operations reports, maintained by Operational Excellence. Generate reports to illustrate this information in a pleasant and comprehensible manner. Serve as the primary liaison for Park & Resort Ops to identify, develop, and distribute KPIs throughout the division.
  • Creates reports and dashboards to illustrate information in a legible and comprehensive manner, utilizing independent decision-making and judgement to evaluate complex issues, propose ideas and solutions, and implement changes that impact and inform business decisions and drive operational updates. Update and distribute critical performance metrics and KPIs to stakeholders and management across UDX. Owns, creates, and maintains reports for Executive Leadership meetings on a weekly basis.
  • Works closely with other divisions to assist with internal reporting requests, data comparisons and the research of data trends. Completes weekly commissioning reporting for hourly Team Members in Admissions and Guest Arrivals.
  • Completes department’s role in Finance and Attendance Reports (FLASH) approvals to ensure information is accurate and entered in a timely manner for daily approvals.
  • Lead the ongoing transition of data and multiple reports from multiple systems into easy-to-use interfaces through Power BI to automate and monitor the established reports and dashboards by offering recommendations and improvements to further support the operational excellence of partnering departments.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: 

  • High school degree or GED is required. 
  • Associate’s (AA) or Bachelor’s degree is preferred with a background in finance, accounting or computer science.

EXPERIENCE: 

  • 3+ years of data entry, analysis, and trending; or equivalent combination of education experience preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a role with independent oversight of projects and the ability to make self-directed, proactive decision-making.
  • 1+ years’ experience with Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps.
  • 1+ years’ experience with SQL, Snowflake, or Azure.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • PL-300 (Power BI) Certification is required.
  • PL-200 (Power Platform Consultant) Certification is preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Strong computer, database, and analytical skills, with the ability to develop Power BI reports and dashboards and possess a detailed understanding of issues related to operational databases, exhibiting strong problem solving and decision-making skills to own the execution of project lifespans, from creation, implementation, to maintenance.
  • Must be proficient in working with Microsoft products, including maintaining data in Excel, advanced Excel/DAX formulas, and compiling tables or pivot tables.
  • Willingness to produce reports on a regular weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis containing primary research, ultimately utilized by leaders at all levels within Universal Parks and Resorts with the ability to apply logical judgement and offer recommendations and improvements to the reporting processes.
  • Desire to take proactive ownership of the accuracy and timeliness of reported data and manage multiple projects and adjusting priorities and deadlines.
  • Translates the approved objectives and recommendations from partners by offering additional recommendations to enhance the deliverables and implement into the projects and procedures.
  • Desire to collaborate with colleagues to design the most effective data visualizations in reports and dashboards that identify trends and unlock key insights, offering suggestions and applying decision making for the
  • Highly collaborative team player who is focused, self-motivated, detail oriented, accurate, and flexible – able to quickly adapt to changing priorities and tight timelines.
