JOB SUMMARY:

Performs technically difficult repairs on damaged boats and propulsion systems on all UO watercraft using hand tools and power tools and diagnoses watercraft failures for long-term corrective action that can/may involve investigative and research techniques.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnose boat and/or propulsion system failures and provide immediate and long-term corrective action. Involves researching defective mechanically- controlled items/parts, instructional information to complete the repair process when needed. This entails logical and extensive troubleshooting and referring to technical manuals, technical library and the CCMS system while utilizing a systematic approach.
  • Performs preventative maintenance work, e.g. visual inspections, lubricate, change fluids, change filters, change wiper blades, adjust belts, etc.
  • Requisition of parts from the storeroom for materials needed to perform PM’s and repairs.
  • Reports all materials used in performance of repairs on work orders. Document all labor used in performance of repairs on work orders.
  • Cleans/sweeps shop.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SCOPE:

Maintain all watercraft on property. Watercraft may be powered by 2 or 4 stroke gasoline or propane powered outboard engines, inboard 2 or 4 stroke diesel or gasoline powered engines, or 2 or 4 stroke inboard / outboard gasoline or diesel engines. May be some paint and body work to the hulls of watercraft. Maintenance to all watercraft sub systems including but not limited to electrical, hydraulic, steering, and power transmission.

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or GED is required
  • Technical school certification is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years watercraft mechanic with diesel and gasoline propulsion system required and hull repair experience preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Florida Drivers License/ required to operate company vehicles.
