JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Legal & Business Affairs department, Universal Designations and Experiences (“UDX”), the Senior Attorney is responsible for assisting with legal aspects of domestic and international commercial transactions and development matters including negotiating, drafting, and interpreting complex commercial and real estate documents, managing compliance requirements and contractual obligations, providing legal advice and guidance to UDX.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for negotiating, drafting, and interpreting sophisticated commercial and real estate documents, including matters related to project development (e.g., easements, utility agreements, roadway agreements, etc.), purchase and sale agreements, and CC&Rs.
- Perform legal research and analysis including review and interpretation of applicable laws, statutes, and regulations relating to real estate development matters, special projects, and/or contractual obligations, and provision of general advice and counsel to Senior Management.
- Provide oversight, management and tracking of corporate compliance matters including contractual obligations and project management.
- Lead and train non-attorney contract professionals and administrative staff. Advise contract representatives regarding contract preparation and negotiation.
- Manage special projects.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Five to seven years’ post-law school experience as an attorney, preferably with top-tier law firm or corporate legal department.
- Minimum of five years of experience in commercial/real estate transactions and development.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Active Florida Bar membership or Florida Authorized House Counsel certification, required.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Excellent communication, organizational and administrative skills.
- Proven ability and commitment to work both independently with minimum supervision and collaboratively with numerous people at all levels throughout the company.
- Sound business judgment, and flexibility/adaptability to manage multiple wide-ranging matters, conflicting deadlines, and new areas of expertise as business needs change.
- Integrity, honesty and trust and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Infrequent light travel may be required.
