JOB SUMMARY:
The associate planner is responsible for developing and maintaining sales forecasts for existing SKUs within a specific product category while also offering contributions to service strategy development. The role prepares key reports, monitors forecast accuracy and ensures data integrity in planning systems. They will also support the planner by performing detailed historical analysis, updating and managing forecast data and providing foundational insights that inform financial planning. By collaborating closely with Planners and cross-functional partners, this role enables data-driven decisions that optimize inventory, meet customer demand, and help realize the financial objectives.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and update sales forecasts for existing, go forward, SKUs by analyzing historical trends, seasonality, sales patterns, in stock data, and relevant business inputs. Adjust forecast models based on actual performance to enhance accuracy of future forecasts.
- Generate and maintain regular reports on sales, inventory, and forecast accuracy; identify variances and communicate actionable insights to the planner.
- Assist the planner with merchandise financial forecasting by providing timely and accurate data, supporting scenario analysis, SKU set up and helping prepare documents for budget and planning reviews.
- Develop an initial receipt flow plan for new SKUs, aligning inbound inventory with projected sales demand, promotional strategies, and set timelines. Collaborate with planners, supply planners, product developers to incorporate supplier lead times and delivery schedules, ensuring new products arrive on time.
- Maintain the SKU lifecycle, including accurate SKU coding, entering phase out dates into planning systems, and executing entry and exit strategies for individual items. Maintain price events and ensure all pricing changes and promotional activities are properly reflected in the planning system to support inventory and financial objectives.
- Support continuous improvement efforts in demand planning by identifying process gaps, enhancing data accuracy, and ensuring consistent adherence to planning procedures and calendar milestones.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Statistics or a related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years' experience in business analytics or forecasting roles; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in a retail operation is highly desirable
