JOB SUMMARY: The Research & Development (R&D) Technical Realtime Media Technologist intern works with our internal Universal Creative R&D team on advancements in real-time media and state-of-the-art Audio and video technologies. Combining their creative uses of real time game engines with technical know-how of hardware, the R&D Technical Realtime Media Creative Technology intern will assist in the development of new and cutting-edge illusions, animation, video systems, and show design elements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Integrates Unreal and game engine technology into tracking and AV systems.
- Builds and operates software and hardware solutions for projection mapping, video control, high-end LED walls and new display technologies.
- Assists the Creative Technologists in setting up and running mockups and demos.
- Prototypes game engine mockups and test beds combining game engine software with show control hardware.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Sophomore or above.
- Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required.
- A transcript is required upon application.
PREFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
- Preferred majors include: Technical VFX/Animation Direction, Technical Experience Design, and Themed Entertainment Technical Design.
- Proficiency in game engines such as Unreal and Unity.
- Background with the integration of game engines into external hardware using API's such as DMX.
- Basic experience with Motion capture systems used in games, TV, and film VFX.
Please note the following:
- This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
- Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than August 2026.
- Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
- All of our internships are paid, and you may also qualify for housing financial assistance if applicable. The Recruiter will provide specific eligibility details.
