JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for managing key government and community relations for Universal Kids Resort (UKR) Universal Destinations & Experiences’ (UDX) External Affairs department. Ensures the company’s efforts to inform and educate government officials and community stakeholders on issues of importance for UKR, including the theme park and hotel. The Manager will be expected to monitor government meetings, research and draft briefing papers and attend legislative, political and association meetings as needed. Responsible for engaging numerous local communities within the greater Frisco area by organizing and executing partnership opportunities including neighborhood relations. Oversee Universal Kids Resort membership, sponsorship, and executive board involvement for various business and industry groups and demonstrate goodwill to diverse non-profit groups and individuals. Manages Team Member engagement programs including volunteering, matching gifts, supply drives, etc. and oversees related marketing and communications efforts.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages Universal Kids Resort’s Team Member Engagement programs including but not limited to Volunteer Program, Matching Gifts Program, and any new UKR programs that best serve the community and Team Member’s needs. Partners with non-profit organizations to identify volunteer opportunities and measure impact in the community. Oversees charitable giving programs including managing requests and donation fulfillment; manages UKR’s Compassion Program in partnership with with-granting organizations and local hospitals.
  • Research, track and provide updates to internal stakeholders on local ordinances and state legislation. Research and drafts briefing papers on issues supporting or impacting tourism, transportation, and business regulation. Leverages information to align, navigate, and execute Universal’s relationship strategy in accordance with government proceedings.
  • Serves as the primary contact for UKR external communications, acting as the first point of intake for communications opportunities, issues, and inquiries, evaluating requests and escalating to UDX Corporate Communications for alignment and approvals. Supports crisis planning and response efforts for UKR, ensuring timely and coordinated alignment with UDX Corporate Communications and other key stakeholders.
  • Manages business and industry association relationships throughout Frisco including board membership, sponsorship, and issues management. Positions UKR as a leader in the greater Frisco community. Builds and maintains relationships with key community stakeholders and leaders; represents UKR at community and non-profit functions and events.
  • Monitors government agendas and meetings for items that impact tourism, transportation and business regulation. Coordinates meetings between elected officials and subject matter experts. Fosters relationships to inform these officials based on Universal’s current and future goals and objectives.
  • Manages political giving with UDX External Affairs and ensures compliance with all government laws for hosting political events following Comcast Political Affairs Guidelines and Universal’s event management procedures.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration or related field is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of legislative, community relations, government, or external affairs experience is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
