JOB SUMMARY:

Provides North America-wide leadership for Employee Relations and Accommodations, ensuring a fair, inclusive, and compliant workplace. Oversees investigations of highly sensitive workplace concerns, directs accommodations processes, and drives systemic improvements to policies, practices, and a respectful workplace. Partners with senior executives, Legal, and HR to mitigate risk, foster trust, and strengthen organizational accountability. Responsible for strategic direction of the “Open Door,” “Peer Review,” and accommodations programs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and lead North America-wide strategy for Employee Relations and Accommodations. Serve as senior advisor to executive leadership on systemic workplace issues, risk mitigation, and organizational climate.
  • Oversee high-risk, complex internal investigations (harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace misconduct) ensuring integrity, consistency, and compliance. Drives decision-making for resolution strategies.
  • Direct strategy and operations for disability, medical, and religious accommodations in compliance with ADA, Title VII, FMLA, and related laws. Partner with Legal and HR to balance compliance and employee experience.
  • Lead enterprise governance of “Open Door,” “Open Door Plus,” “Peer Review”, and Respect In the Workplace training programs. Ensure robust training, tracking, facilitation, and reporting to maintain trust and program integrity.
  • Build and develop a high-performing Employee Relations and Accommodations team. Provide leadership, coaching, and succession planning for talent. Provide investigation skill-building for HRBPs.
  • Provide insights, metrics and reporting to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for policy and/or practice improvement.
  • Represent the company in response to EEOC or other agency matters.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Human Resources, Business Administration, Legal, or related).
  • Advanced degree (JD, MBA, or Master’s in HR/Labor Relations) strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 15+ years progressive HR experience, with at least 8 years leading Employee Relations and Accommodations at a senior level.
  • Extensive experience in corporate investigations, accommodations, and compliance in large, complex organizations.
  • Proven ability to influence executives, shape enterprise policies, and lead systemic change.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • This role operates independently with significant authority and visibility.
  • Provides strategic guidance to UDX business and division SVPs/VPs/Directors, and senior leadership.
  • Partners extensively with HR Business Partners, Legal, Diversity & Inclusion, and NBCUniversal Fair Employment Practices.
  • Supervises an Exempt and Non-Exempt team
  • Direct supervision of exempt and non-exempt staff.
  • Oversight of adjacent professional staff and program facilitators.
  • Responsible for organizational design, staffing, and capability-building across Employee Relations and Accommodations.
  • Well-developed business partner skills; able to establish credibility and rapport with operating leaders and HR Partners.
  • Fast learner and decisive leader with a quick mind, sound judgment and excellent problem solving / critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Expertise in conflict resolution, risk management, and employment law.
  • Ability to balance empathy with legal and business imperatives.
  • Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing teams.
