JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for inspecting new and existing electrical systems and equipment to ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of electrical systems throughout UO Parks. The Electrical Quality Inspectors are responsible for repairs, inspecting, testing, and evaluating electrical components, installations, and equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and UO Specifications.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform electrical repairs and/or installations as needed to alleviate any deficiencies found during inspection process. This may include working from lifts or ladders, bending, sitting, or crouching to perform work as necessary. Use of hand tools and power tools as needed to perform work as indicated by industry standards, code requirements and UO quality and safety standards.
  • Provide electrical inspection to ensure safety for electrical systems and components throughout UO buildings. These electrical inspections to ensure compliance with ASTM F24 Standards, NEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, NFPA 780, NEMA 250, UL508A, IEEE and Universal Standards. Other compliance includes but is not limited to standards from CSA, EN, DIN, ISO, and IEC. Inspect electrical work for compliance with code requirements for wire insulation type, wire size, correct terminations (ferrules, lugs, etc.), stranded or solid wire, wire color and placement, number of wires, coding of electrical phases, grounding/shielding & bonding, wire numbering, voltages, etc. Perform quality conformity checks on electrical work.
  • Performs evaluations of existing and proposed electrical infrastructure with a focus on improving reliability, reducing electrical system related downtime, and reducing operation and maintenance risk by conducting new or the revalidation of existing arc flash hazard analysis, thermal scanning of panels and breakers, torque adjustments on panels and breakers, load testing on feeder and branch circuits, etc.
  • Create legible and accurate computer-generated reports on the findings of inspections and the final status of the ensuing repairs and or installs related to these inspections. Create informative e-mails, etc. to keep Dept. Management and TM’s aware of the status and progress of ensuing inspections and repairs and/or installs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate intra-departmental partnerships, provide technical guidance, and resources to encourage friendly working relationships for everyone including Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities, Utilities, Ride & Show, Operations, outside vendors, etc.
  • Acquire and review documentation, such as venue blueprints and specifications from UO T/S Document Control and other sources as needed to perform inspections and repairs. Provide project status of assigned task list items to Utilities Supervisors, Managers, Technicians, and other internal department personnel, as necessary. Update project status via Maximo on a regular basis
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High School degree or GED; Technical School – required
  • Associate degree - preferred

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 4+ years of experience in electrical inspection, quality assurance, or a related field.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Journeyman Electrical License – Required
  • Certified Electrical Inspector (CEI) or equivalent - Preferred

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Strong computer software skills that may include but are not limited to Maximo, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and additional Microsoft Office Software.
  • Strong understanding of electrical coded, regulations, and safety standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ASTM F24)
  • Proficiency in interpreting electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Must possess the knowledge and ability to effectively conduct different types of inspections, repairs, and installs in a professional, ethical, and objective manner using and interpreting applicable standards/requirements, with an awareness of potential safety and legal ramifications.
