JOB SUMMARY:

The Lifeguard Instructor Auditor will be responsible for upholding a high-level of safety standards, and that these are met by monitoring the performance of Aquatic Operations Team Members through auditing and monthly in-service trainings. They will aid in ensuring that all proper execution of all standard operation procedures is being upheld throughout Attraction Operations Venues. The Lifeguard Instructor Auditor will play a vital role in the development/improving of audits, SOP’s and in-service programs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Observe, conduct, and complete safety assessments for all Aquatics Operation Team Members regularly to ensure Team Members can demonstrate the necessary lifesaving skills in a safe, effective, and timely manner. Documents results and provide coaching and documented feedback and recognition for individual safety performance. Escalate unsatisfactory assessment results to operation management team.
  • Develop and facilitate structured trainings such as Lifeguard In-service and aids in developing updates to Standard Operation Procedures, on-the-job training programs by partnering with the Aquatics Operations and Talent and Development teams.
  • Support Manager, Audit and Compliance, Aquatic Operations through research to improve all safety and compliance within Aquatics by defining and documenting safety measures to identify improvements, opportunities and to resolve issues, to include monthly and annual review of Aquatics SOP.
  • Perform administrative duties associated with auditing, and training to include inputting results of audits, and to be able to review data to communicate improvements. Assist, when needed, Talent Development Operations in the facilitation of American Red Cross courses.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Associate degree and/or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ years of lifeguard experience required.
  • 4+ years relevant experience.
  • Experience in the service industry or related field required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Must hold a current American Red Cross Deep Water Lifeguarding certification. If not currently possessed, successful completion and passing of course is required.
  • Must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor certification. If not currently possessed, successful completion and passing of course is required.
  • Successful completion of the American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor course with a written test score of 80% or higher in the designated timeframe.
  • Demonstrate all lifeguarding skills proficiently, to include the Swim-Tread Swim Sequence (150-yard continuous swim followed by 2 min tread followed by another 50-yard swim). A Timed Event brick retrieval of 10 lbs. (in 8 feet of water).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Must be 18 years or older, Professional Presentation & Facilitation skills, Effective Communication, Strategic Planning, Lifeguard Experience, Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to effectively present operational information to small or large groups to ensure Team Member understanding.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and rapidly apply and convey the application of these concepts while considering multiple variables.
  • Experience in Instructional Design related tools preferred.
