JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Solutions Architect’s role is to strategically design global application architectures that support multi-park needs while also satisfying the tailored needs of individual parks. This Senior Architect will work closely with application owners and other solution architects to design integrations with security, performance, reliability, reusability, scalability, and maintainability in mind. Individual will also be involved in the design of new systems and critical platform and software applications including cloud technologies. Maintain an in-depth technical knowledge across Universal’s global portfolio of systems and platforms and act as a subject matter expert for other architects, delivery teams and support teams.

In addition, the Senior Solutions Architect will provide technical guidance over the implementation phase of solutions with cross functional Agile teams across the organization including recognizing risk, working with vendors, and communicating with senior leadership. The Sr. Solutions Architect is also responsible for providing technical guidance and providing technical mentorship to junior members of the team.

This Architect will collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver and finalize solutions. This includes, Product, Project Management, IT Security, Infrastructure, Data Architecture and Delivery teams. As a go-to Sr. Architect, this person will be a subject matter expert across domains and will influence the strategic direction the organization is driving to and will possess excellent communication and collaboration skills to serve as an advisory member of technical direction.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategy & Planning - Act as visionary and strategist for their solution domain area. Assist, design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining corporate technology and software. Ensure that proposed and existing solution architectures are aligned with Data Architecture and Enterprise Architecture. Provide architectural expertise, and direction to delivery teams, DevOps engineers, other architects. Develop, document, and communicate plans for investing in solutions architecture, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities. Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility. Provide technical assessments for new work efforts. Lead development of formalized solution methodologies. Build and maintain repository for deliverables and methodologies.
  • Solution Design - Where applicable, architect, design/develop, and oversee implementation of Enterprise solutions. Be a domain expert for development teams as part of implementation. Document and maintain the organizations existing solutions architecture and technology portfolio; influence strategic direction and deliver the ‘art of the possible’ for improvements and/or alternatives. Review and provide guidance on new and existing solutions design delivered by other Architects with an eye for compliance, industry standards and architectural SOPs. Interface and coordinate tasks with internal and external technical resources. Collaborate with Project Managers, vendors and IT stakeholders to provision estimates and develop overall implementation plan for installation, customization, and integration efforts. Model business and systems processes based on findings through use case scenarios, sequence diagrams, swaggers, workflow diagrams, and data models.
  • Technical Collaboration - Confer with delivery teams, product team, or senior management to refine business requirements and collaborate on technical designs and resolve technical issues. Participate and actively engage with other architects and domain experts at the solution review board.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar essential required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 9+ years of IT experience with large integrated projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive experience in developing strategic systems architecture. Proven experience in system design and development. Proven experience in system and network design and development.
  • Repeatedly demonstrated ability to produce requirement artifacts: data flow diagrams, UML modeling techniques include sequence, component, deployment and domain models.
  • An expert level background in software development with ability to code at some level and knowledge of APIs and SDKs.
  • A technical architecture background with an understanding of high-level networks, routers, switches, firewalls, BGP, caching, SANs, servers, and operating systems form a part of the solution stack.
  • Strong experience with reverse proxies, web servers, API gateways, service-oriented architectures, web services (REST), microservice patterns, service buses and integration patterns, security practices, database technologies.
  • Proven experience with databases and data storage including NoSQL and SQL databases, along with in memory key value stores.
  • Demonstrable experience in solution architecture
  • Demonstrable experience in integration solution design.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This individual will understand vision, communicate possibilities of technology solutions along with roadmaps to achieving the results. Experience leading global enterprise engineering projects or teams is a plus. Familiarity with REST, Node.Js, .NET, NoSQL, SQL, native mobile applications, eventing patterns and microservices. Self-starter with the ability to manage a broad workload and accommodate change with a proven ability to deliver results. Japanese language experience a plus.
