These could include working in various climate conditions, standing for long periods, and in noisy environments. The working hours are unique, often covering weekends and holidays, plus evenings. JOB SUMMARY

Oversees all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Security teams while driving emergency management planning and operations at Universal Kids Resort (UKR), including the park and hotel. Manages leadership responsible for day-to-day resort-wide EHS and security initiatives and EHS document management, regulatory interface and compliance efforts. Establishes and oversees the planning and execution of annual accountabilities and objectives for the division while regularly partnering with other UKR divisions and across Universal Destinations & Experiences (UDX) compliance, Global EHS, and Security teams to ensure alignment with UDX policies and procedures. Oversees all Guest Satisfaction (GSAT), Team Member Satisfaction (TSAT), and financial aspects of EHS and Security as well as EHS across UKR. Partners and ensures adherence with local regulations for third-party vendors for Guest and Team Member Security Screening and Health Services programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs and leads resort-wide EHS and Security daily operations to ensure the park and hotel are aligned for EHS and security initiatives through division management team with a focus on staffing, controls, and performance. Drives the development of management team through formal and informal training and role modeling. Develops and implements Team Member Satisfaction (TSAT) action plans. Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to achieve maximum results and empower the management team to drive and make decisions. Creates a culture of safety first that is supportive and respectful to support a positive environment. Partners with Human Resources to manage concerns and issues in a timely manner and to resolution.
  • Serves as local Law Enforcement liaison for shared intelligence and coordination of emergency response and planning. Leads the design, development, deployment of uniformed Security resources, and resort wide emergency management planning and operations, and Command Center operations for operational and technical requests and issues. Partners and collaborates closely with Hotel and Park Operations to monitor, control, and safeguard Guests and Teams Members, their property and the physical or intellectual assets of UKR.  
  • Implements, maintains, and controls processes necessary to meet Global EHS Standards and legal requirement expectation of conformance related to EHS. These processes include but are not limited to; hazard identification and control, legal and Global EHS Standard impacts, performance objectives for EHS and site management teams, communication mechanisms, and document management and recordkeeping according to regulation and policy. This also includes quality control, inspection of records, implementation of EHS applications, determination and implementation of operational controls, and direction of routine evaluation, EHS emergency response mechanisms, investigation, and corrective action. Provides technical input and direction on risk assessments and controls to minimize EHS impacts. Monitors KPIs and uses them to make informed decisions to continually improve EHS.  
  • Directs budgeting process and daily management of budgets, analyzing fluctuations in business units and instituting changes/enhancements as necessary. Partners across UKR and UDX to create synergies for company goals and compliance with regulations. Develops long-range capital plans and manages annual capital requests for EHS and Security as well as EHS across UKR. Provides leadership and strategic oversight for initiative management, ensuring on-time/on-budget development and implementation.
  • Responsible for the overall Safety & Security Guest Satisfaction (GSAT) initiatives and Team Member experience, communication of goals and expectations, and ensuring EHS standards and regulations are maintained. Interacts with Team Members, guests and key partners, monitors equipment and infrastructure needs, generates efficiency objectives and plans. Responsible for adherence and interaction with applicable regulatory agencies and requirements.
  • Partners with third-party vendors to ensure the safe and efficient operation of Guest and Team Member Security Screening and Health Services programs. Supports adherence to regulations, Health Services escalations, and partnership of the resort-wide public access defibrillator program with third-party vendor.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must be willing to be available to respond to emergencies or tactical situations 24 hours a day.
  • Ability to handle sensitive or confidential matters on a frequent and recurring basis.

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities (KSAs) required.

  • Possess business acumen, strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, organizational behavior, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with a logical approach to problem solving, troubleshooting capabilities, organized, collaborative and self-motivated.
  • Experience with directing a diverse team with a focus on safety, compliance, and regulations.
  • Experience with security operations within a theme park or immersive experience is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

  • Level 2 (Non-Commissioned) Security License is required.
  • Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Professional Engineer, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or other safety or environmental certification is preferred.
  • Professional security recognition or accreditation as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Criminal Justice Administrator (CCJA) is preferred.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Safety Management, Public Health, Environmental Engineering or Sciences, Criminal Justice or related field is required.

EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of environmental, health, and safety, security or law enforcement experience with 3 or more years of leadership experience is required, experience within a theme park or immersive experience is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
