JOB SUMMARY:

This role is an Individual Contributor that serves as a finance and cost consultant for assigned client group.  Performs accounting month-end duties, financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting, through a range of finance and accounting applications including journal entries, report writing and review, and variance commentary.  Presents findings to client group leadership to ensure budgets stay within targets, explains variances, and makes recommendations.  Reports financial results to Finance leaders.  

Position-Specific Summary (UDX Finance - Administration Division)

Supports Universal Destinations and Experiences client group, comprised of core business, non-revenue generating operations (aka Universal's Administration Division - Group Overhead, HR, Finance, Legal, and Admin).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains an active relationship with assigned operating division; makes recommendations for solutions to manage costs within budgets.
  • Assists business leaders in the development of annual operating budgets and quarterly estimates (LE’s).
  • Completes and audits financial reports that summarize financial comparisons in the areas of labor, non-labor, allocations in and out.
  • Monitors and tracks projected spend against actuals.
  • Evaluates all costs incurred throughout the year and looks for ways to reduce cost and find efficiencies.
  • Prepares and presents monthly variance reports, analyzes performance metrics, and identifies areas to improve.
  • Performs month-end duties including but not limited to journal entries, blacklining reqs, data requests, and financial reports, in compliance with assigned timelines.
  • Processes all invoices, completes necessary journal entries, responds to emails timely and accurately
  • Prepares and coordinates special projects and/or events budgets. Make recommendations regarding operational decisions related to those projects.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Associate’s degree (AA) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years relevant Finance / Cost Accounting experience required.
  • Performing cost controls in a Corporate Setting a plus
  • Working with non-revenue generating operations a plus 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Knowledge of Accounting Principles
  • Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills (Formulas, Charts, etc.)
  • Financial Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Financial/Business Analysis
  • Cost Accounting
  • Variance Explanations
  • Presenting and public speaking up to Sr. level leadership both in operations and in Finance
