JOB SUMMARY:

Supports Horticulture through maintenance and efficient operation of irrigation system. Performs basic irrigation tasks, including trenching, piping, sprinkler adjustment, controller operation, troubleshooting, installation and testing as an irrigation technician in training.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support repair, replacement or installation of irrigation systems in new or existing areas, including wiring and controller repairs & installation.
• Support adjustments to irrigation system to assure proper operation.
• Assists with monitoring and testing operation of irrigation systems.
• Assist Horticulture Department maintenance functions, such as tree pruning, fertilization, and bed layout as requested.
• Complete assigned documentation (labor and work sheets).
• Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

High school degree or GED preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum one year field experience in landscape/maintenance.
• One year of commercial irrigation field experience preferred
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Valid Florida Drivers License required to operate company vehicles.
• Certified irrigation manufacturer training preferred and may be required, depending on job requirements.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Ability to perform basic computer tasks is required.
• Having a horticulture background of tree and shrub knowledge and the ability to identify both is preferred.
