JOB SUMMARY:

Performs complex design and development efforts of the facility Building Management System (BMS) to provide increased reliability, increased efficiency, and operational improvements. Engineer III will be responsible for technical ownership of the Building Management System (BMS) and will be responsible for providing technical expertise performance and oversight of internal partners and external consultants to ensure proper system operation and creating standards as required to align with corporate sustainability initiatives. Engineer III will be responsible for creating and enforcing sitewide standards for Universal Orlando properties.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides technical leadership for the operation of the EMS system equipment to include HVAC Systems, Lighting Control Systems, Aquatic/Pool Systems, and Solar Systems to provide proper control, reliability, and energy efficiency of control systems. Leadership responsibilities may be in-house personnel or external vendors.
  • Responsible for projects from design through installation to include project schedules, testing, training and budget demands. Will be held accountable for project deliveries and validation.
  • Prepares scope of work documents for facility engineering projects. Develops and conducts Acceptance Test Procedures on control systems modifications, generation of maintenance procedures and manual updates. Prepares and conducts maintenance training on controls equipment.
  • Interfaces with Technical Services supervisors and managers to resolve EMS/Control system issues. Coordinates engineering activities between Utility supervisors, project stakeholders, and Tech Services BMS Team Members.
  • Monitors and interfaces with vendors/contractors to resolve problems and design issues. Prepares and reviews equipment specifications and performs technical evaluation of vendor products/services.
  • Performs engineering calculations for design, analysis, test and implementation of BMS. Acts as technical resource and Subject Matter Expert for Universal Studios Orlando.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years demonstrated project engineering experience in an engineering environment for the development and maintenance of Building Management System in a theme park, industrial, or healthcare environment required;
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC control systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of lighting control systems.
  • Ability to write control sequences of operation and create BMS control graphics/diagrams.
  • Analytical skills to perform engineering calculations for design, analysis, test and implementation of control systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to provide control system management.
  • Ability to manage external consultants/contractors.
  • Experience in solar control systems.
  • Experience in aquatic control systems.
  • Proven experience with Niagara Tridium building control, software, and devices.
