JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for ensuring a successful day-to-day operation of all Entertainment venues, shows, and events at Universal Kids Resort. Provides support and technical skills to ensure show quality and a positive Guest experience. Partners across Entertainment to communicate show or safety issues and ensures safety of self, Guests, and other Team Members by following Universal standards and procedures. Conducts daily venue startups and assessments, operates technical components, and performs routine preventative, diagnostic and corrective maintenance on a variety of platforms to include show control, communications, wireless audio systems, lighting, video, digital projection and similar. Reports technical issues to leadership in a timely manner to ensure show readiness.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the operation of technical components within the assigned venue or event including but not limited to the operation of lighting, audio, show controls and special effects in a live show situation. Responsible for the successful operation of live performances and/or technical presentations, including completion of pre/post show presets and resets. Responsible for the careful execution of show elements/cues to preserve show quality. Maintains the proper show timing and levels as directed by show direction and venue training. Conducts daily startup, checks and shutdown for Entertainment venues to ensure the technical entertainment show systems and elements are ready for daily operation. Ensures readiness of supported by Operations teams including but not limited to prepping equipment and show elements and running shows as needed.
  • Facilitates communication and coordination with the Lead Technician and/or management as necessary. Conveys resource requirements and work plans to maintain effective communication between technicians, Tech Leads, and other management personnel. Responsible for effective and timely communication of pertinent information, both written and verbal, pertaining to the technical operation of the assigned entertainment venue/event to Leads, management, internal partners and Team Members of the venue/event. Ensures proper completion of all technical documentation to include daily checklists, pertinent information and other related documentation.
  • Assists with the appropriate maintenance and inventory of venue equipment/supplies as assigned for proper operation, organization, and cleanliness. Assists in the assembly of gear and routinely checking equipment for safe use. Notifies leadership of any materials needed and any repairs needed beyond basic maintenance of the venue/show.
  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual inspections, testing and preventative maintenance on technical entertainment systems and elements according to checklists for each milestone. Accountable to strictly adhere to all policies and procedures, as defined by the Entertainment Department, governing the safe operation of all technical equipment and special effects products within the assigned venue or event. Responsible for accurately and timely recording maintenance and any related activities in the requisite systems/platforms.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Individual Contributor.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Preferred Certifications include:

  • Q-Sys Level 1 or 2
  • Q-Sys Control Training 201 and Control & UCI Fundamentals Certification
  • Dante Level 1, 2 or 3
  • Christie Certification Training
  • SMAART Technologies Software Certification
  • ETCP/Esta
  • Avixa CTS ANP

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Theater/Entertainment Technical fields preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 

  • 1+ years of experience in a Theatre or Stage Technician environment required; experience with Q-Sys systems preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
