JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for managing the full lifecycle of contracts and overseeing the planning and execution of work performed by third‑party vendors under Master Services Agreements (MSAs) to support operational and project needs. This role combines advanced contract administration expertise with operational oversight to ensure compliance with Universal Destinations & Experiences (UDX) policies, local regulations, and industry best practices. Drafts, reviews, analyzes, negotiates, and processes complex contracts and related documents in collaboration with Legal, Risk Management, and Finance to ensure accuracy and alignment with organizational standards. Supervises and mentors a team of contract professionals and technical staff, guiding them in Universal Orlando’s contract processes, documentation requirements, and quality expectations. Ensures timely project delivery, vendor performance, and adherence to safety, compliance, and quality standards across all assigned work.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Draft, review, analyze complex contracts, amendments, and change orders for attraction renovation projects and replacement of specialized attraction components such as ride control systems, show control equipment, A/V packages, animatronics, ride vehicles, and show set elements.
- Coordinate contract planning and vendor execution for highly specialized ride/show contractors, including sequencing, resource planning, access coordination, and integration with project schedules. Partner with Engineering, Creative, Technical Services, Operations, and Safety teams to ensure contract deliverables support attraction uptime, show quality, and technical integration needs.
- Track vendor revisions, identify negotiation topics, and prepare corresponding documentation for attorney review; support dispute resolution and claims related to technical systems or installation performance. Review contracts and technical documentation produced by Contract Administrators and support staff, ensuring consistency with attraction system requirements, facility constraints, and project specifications.
- Develop bid packages and scopes of work tailored to themed entertainment systems and vendors, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with Global Attraction Program standards and attraction specific requirements.
- Prepare Notices of Commencement, Letters of Authorization, and similar documentation for field work inside operating parks. Train new team members on contracting processes, attraction specific requirements, and best practices in managing ride/show system vendors.
- Serve as liaison with Legal, Risk Management, Finance, Technical Services, Engineering, and Operations to address contract questions, risks, and issues unique to attraction environments. Collaborate with global and site-based stakeholders to support project objectives, ensuring contract activities align with creative intent, technical integration, schedule milestones, and operational readiness.
- Manage lien compliance, Notices to Owner, and contractor documentation for on site installation activities that affect structural, electrical, mechanical, or control system interfaces within the attraction.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- Associate’s degree or technical training preferred for operational aspects
EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years in operations or maintenance of industrial/commercial systems preferred
- 3+ years in contract drafting, negotiation, and administration required
- 2+ years supervisory experience required
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Excellent contract writing skills required; writing sample may be requested
- Strong understanding of contract law and negotiation principles
- Familiarity with utilities systems and preventative maintenance programs preferred
