JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the management of Technical & Show Operations within Universal Horror Unleashed (UHU). Oversight of Audio, Video, Lighting, Rigging, Staging, Special Effects, Special Events, as well as Facilities Maintenance including routine maintenance, emergency repairs, etc. Adheres to OSHA and Universal safety standards and drives safety and satisfaction efforts for both guests (GSAT) and Team Members (TSAT). Manages both entertainment and facilities technicians, working with contracted technicians when necessary, advising on technical situations for Universal Horror Unleashed.
JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Responsible for managing day to day technical operation and quality assurance of UHU including the management of employees in each technical discipline. This includes but is not limited to Audio, Video, Lighting, Rigging, Staging, Special Effects, Props and all facility maintenance.
- Manages facilities maintenance efforts including routine, preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, etc. while ensuring adherence to OSHA and Universal safety standards. Partners with the Assistant Director, Tech & Show Operations to manage contracting of third-party vendors such as Electrical, HVAC, restaurant equipment maintenance, and other specialized facilities maintenance in partnership with tenant management procedures and standards.
- Responsible for effectively communicating necessary information which pertains to technical operation of UHU to the necessary parties in partnering departments as well as upper management, third-party contractors, and employees within the Technical & Entertainment departments. Ensures all Entertainment operating and safety standards are maintained in daily operation.
- Drives and executes plans for Technical & Show operations team that directly affect TSAT, GSAT, and safety standards while utilizing existing tools to measure and monitor performance against targets and work in conjunction with Assistant Director, Technical & Show Operations to develop appropriate action plans to achieve or exceed targets.
- Provides guidance, leadership and coaching to the Technical Supervisors with both operational and employee relations issues. Fosters a supportive and respectful environment. Partners with Assistant Director, Technical & Show and Human Resources to manage concerns.
- Responsible for the appropriate technical staffing for UHU beginning with interviewing and selecting candidates and overseeing all scheduling of both evening shifts (Operational Hours) and day shifts (Non-Operational Hours) to ensure proper technical operation.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises an Exempt team.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Will require a flexible schedule including late night/weekend/holiday hours based on business needs.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Required relevant state certifications including OSHA 30-Hour.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities (KSAs) required.
- Expert knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 working standards.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA, ANSI, and ESTA standards are preferred.

EDUCATION:
High school degree or GED required. Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
5 + years’ experience within the professional theater, theme park, corporate entertainment or hospitality industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years management experience preferred.
