Lead Welder (3rd) (TIG Experience)

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for advanced welding operations in all positions. Work performed includes structural and cosmetic repairs on various materials. Work areas include confined space and high position work location areas as well as High Reach access. Supports Ride and Show Maintenance including Animation and Special Effects as well as all other UO Properties and Divisions as required. Lead team, helps set priorities, organize workflow, communicate between departments.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and delegates work tasks. Supports, follows and implements planning and scheduling for the assigned shift. Delegates work assignments among qualified team members. Ensure proper Maximo work orders. Communicates performance expectations to ensure proper completion of tasks; provides feedback for recognition and performance improvement.
  • Actively reinforces company safety guidelines and programs, reports non-compliance. Monitors employees’ productivity, work habits. Leads startup and stoppage, schedules breaks. Monitors care, condition, use and storage of tools, equipment and other UO property. Maintains material inventories. Monitors compliance with wardrobe/grooming standards, driving policy, radio usage, and other UO policies.
  • Ensures proper completion of documentation, traveler packages, and weld logs to ensure work products conform to Quality Control and Engineering specifications.
  • Communicates and coordinates with other departments or crafts as needed. Communicates resource needs and work plans to Management. Provides two-way communication between work team, supervisor, and other management and HR personnel.
  • Performs job duties as described in non-lead job description, including maintaining required weld certifications per ASTM and UO Standards.
  • Assists with training new and current employees. Assigns who will provide daily training.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Associate of Science degree (AS) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ Years- required welding experience and company certification equal to 6G or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Six months to one year experience providing work direction preferred

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Florida Driver’s License required to operate company vehicles to operate

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • LANGUGAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, Safety Rules, or governmental regulations. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITES: Have basic knowledge of hand tools. Read and understand drawings and manuals. Must be able to obtain company certificates in Stick, Mig, and Tig; on steel, stainless, aluminum, bi-metal, and other materials up to 6G within 90 days of employment.
