JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible to provide technical support to the UO health and safety function related to inspection, maintenance, inventory, and auxiliary support processes and tasks to include but not limited to: development and maintenance of equipment specific LOTO procedures, inspection, inventory and maintenance of fall protection equipment, inventory and hazard identification for confined spaces, support and tracking of cranes, hoists and associated equipment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect, according to OSHA, ANSI, and manufacturer’s recommendations, fall protection equipment and systems to include soft goods (i.e., harnesses, carabiners, D-rings and lanyards) and fixed systems as trained and assigned. Assist in inventory management to include fitting and issuance of equipment.
  • Develop equipment specific LOTO procedures which identify all hazardous energy source(s), energy magnitude, associated equipment, and individual steps necessary to isolate energy to a zero energy state for the safe inspection and maintenance. This involves a complete understanding of how each piece of equipment is energized, the types of hazardous energy which may be present as well as an understating of how the equipment operates to assure it is not damaged as part of the de-energization process.
  • Identification and ongoing inventory of all equipment requiring equipment specific procedures and alternative methods, completes annual inspection of assigned procedures maintains an accurate library of all established LOTO procedures for the site.
  • Identification and ongoing inventory of all cranes and hoists requirement inspection and maintenance. Assists as assigned in below the hook rigging device inspections and inventory management.
  • Conduct inspections to identify potential Confined Spaces, assists with hazard assessment, and maintains space inventory and associated permit library. Conducts permit audits as assigned.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Associates degree (AA);
  • or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of maintenance and inspection experience on equipment involving the isolations of energy sources (hydraulic, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic etc) required.
  • Experience in a position requiring compliance with written, technically oriented procedures or documentations.
  • Previous experience in writing or developing training materials is desired;
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience.
