JOB SUMMARY:
Supervises the Creative Fabrication and Figure Finish maintenance departments for UO. Ensures timely and efficient use of resources to fabricate new and replacement skin and prosthetic systems for internal and external customers while minimizing cost, meeting quality and schedule requirements. Ensures show quality for all animated and show characters by timely replacement and routine maintenance.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises the fabrication of new and replacement skins, prosthetics and costuming systems for internal and external customers in accordance with all federal, state, and local safety, fire, and environmental codes. Includes maximizing profit on all skins made for external customers and minimizing costs for internal customers. Identifies and implements strategies to reduce waste and improve labor efficiencies.
- Supervises animation and show character maintenance. Ensures show quality of animated and show characters by monitoring Quality Report and figure conditions at all shows and attractions. Ensures efficient use of resources to maintain characters.
- Responsible for training, quality, schedule compliance, and productivity of skin and costume fabrication and maintenance using Maximo and MS Schedule in order to meet customer requirements. Establishes and executes preventative maintenance programs.
- Interprets technical documentation and artistic renderings to support fabrication and maintenance. Performs R&D on prototypical materials. Evaluates, designs and implements improved costuming/skin/shell/integration plans.
- Pursues additional work from both internal and external customers to increase revenue and to provide a greater base of work to spread fabrication overhead costs.
- Develops figure repair and replacement schedules and budgets to meet show quality. Monitors performance to budgets.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SCOPE:
Responsible for fabricating and maintaining all animated figures resort wide which includes skins, fiberglass shells, costumes, prosthetic makeup pieces & masks, character heads, shoes and accessories. Responsible for maintaining and restoring show sets and queue lines based on Creative and Art & Design’s directions
EDUCATION:
- Required High school degree or GED.
- Preferred Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
- Preferred Other: Trade School or Art School.
EXPERIENCE:
Required
- 1-3 Years: experience in a lead position/role.
- 1-3 Years: Ability to read & interpret blueprints. Working knowledge of UO's administrative software (ie. Maximo, Stomberg, Infinium etc.)
- 3-5 Years: Experience with flexible and/or ridgid shell fabrication techniques. Knowledge of materials and chemistry associated with their proper use.
Preferred
- 3-5 Years: Theme Park Maintenance Supervisory/Managerial experience. Project management experience in an industrial setting. Safety and environmental management/training experience.
- 3-5 Years: Strong familiarity with existing parks and associated characters.
- 5-7 Years: Experience in maintenance and/or production/fabrication facilities;
- ; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
