JOB SUMMARY:
Provide structural engineering forensic type condition assessments for existing buildings and infrastructures type structures. Evaluate building structures and their components and assign a current condition state, based on guidelines of ASTM E2018-15. Perform structural engineering reviews of existing buildings using the provisions of the latest edition of the Florida Building Code and its current design standards. Make recommendations of any modifications necessary to improve and rehabilitate a building structure or any of its structural components in order to extend the life of the asset, improve its reliability and durability, and improve operations. Mentor other facilities management team members to expand their knowledge of building structures and how to improve and extend their life. All structural engineering work shall be in accordance with industry accepted engineering principles, standards, methods and techniques.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform structural engineering analysis to modify, rehabilitate, and repair of any structure to improve the overall performance of the day-to-day operations of the UOR theme parks.
- Immediate onsite structural assessments to identify, describe and document the current condition state of the structure and initiate correction actions.
- Provide high level construction design and maintenance support for all UOR facilities, including ride buildings, parking structures and facilities infrastructures.
- Responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgement in the evaluation, selection of materials or vendors, application and adaption of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Devise new approaches to problems and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts or graphs, and monitor existing work and new work for compliance to applicable codes and accepted engineering practices.
- Oversee the monitoring of existing infrastructure and buildings as well as managing teams responsible for watching new construction having to do with the resort.
- Participate in two local or national professional organization of relevance to the work (i.e. AISC, ICRI, ACI, etc.). Attend virtual training sessions for CEU/PDH’s. Attend local or national conferences.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Structural/Civil Engineering, with Structural Engineering specialty, Structural Engineering Technology or related field required.
- Masters degree in same fields preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years demonstrated experience in an Engineering environment focused primarily on re-engineering of dynamically aggressive structures common with theme park or amusement park construction.
- Has experience interacting with other Engineering and Maintenance Department disciplines. Areas of proficiency to include the design and/or sustaining engineering of, parking structures, building structures including restaurants, rides, office buildings and trailers.
- Has experience performing project management functions especially in the areas of technical compliance and working with municipalities and local utility providers.
- 5+ years demonstrated experience in structural engineering, civil engineering, environment required. Experience should be comprised of masonry, structural steel, concrete, timber, light gage metal framing and post-tensioned concrete;
- or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Current, Active and without disciplinary actions, Registration Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Completed the Advanced Florida Building Code course, on the seventh edition of the Florida Building Code.
