CONTEXT OF THE JOB:
The Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD) is a multi-disciplinary, comprehensive student learning and psychological wellbeing program providing a diverse array of culturally informed services so that students can be more successful in their academic, personal, and career pursuits. The CCSD is IACS accredited and sponsors interdisciplinary training including an APA-accredited doctoral internship. CCSD is situated within the Wellbeing Unit which seeks to integrate service care delivery in a seamless, holistic, and effective manner with excellence in clinical care and team functioning at its core. The Wellbeing Unit is part of the Division of Student Life (SL), whose mission is to advance equity and inclusion, deepen student learning and drive holistic development through education, experiences, and communities.
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Clinical Services, the Psychologist II is a licensed, experienced clinician invested in the success of the Center’s mission to meet the mental health needs of our student population. The Psychologist II engages in clinical service provision including individual and group counseling and crisis management. The Center operates from a brief therapy model and requires clinicians to be adept at working in a fast-paced, team environment. Such work is generally highly sensitive and requires astute clinical judgment and thorough familiarity of ethical and legal procedures. The Psychologist II also plays a critical role in the training program inclusive of a variety training and supervision opportunities. The Center provides outreach to our diverse student body requiring incumbents to be competent working across differences. The Center also provides consultation to faculty and staff across the university, requiring skillful oral and written professional communications with a wide variety of stakeholders.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Professionalism and Alignment
• Serve as an approachable resource for faculty, staff, students, families, and community partners.
• Model professionalism in staff and clinical interactions, foster healthy team dynamics, demonstrate alignment with the CCSD leadership team, and uphold the vision, values, and goals of the center.
• Take a proactive role in departmental operations and functions as assigned and in alignment with center goals. Demonstrate flexibility in pivoting to respond to center needs.
• Serve on committees and/or perform special projects as directed and in accordance with center goals.

Clinical Services
• Provide effective, high quality, evidence-based individual and group counseling and psychotherapy.
• Maintain case load as assigned.
• Assess, evaluate, and diagnose a wide range of psychological disorders and personal, educational, and career development problems in undergraduate and graduate students.
• Formulate case conceptualizations and develop, execute, monitor, and modify treatment plans that reflect evidence-based interventions that can be accomplished in a short-term model.
• On a rotating basis as assigned, respond to campus-wide weekday and evening crisis situations including those that are life threatening as the designated University authority for the handling of mental health crisis situations in the University community.
• Maintain legally and ethically sound documentation and electronic medical record practices.

Training
• Provide support for and orientation of trainees to CCSD such as orientation, training seminars, consultation, and evaluation of applications among other duties.
• Supervise the counseling and clinical work of graduate students-in-training. This will include supervising trainees at all levels depending on the needs of the center (e.g., externship, internship, post-doctoral/pre-licensed trainees) in alignment with CCSD mission and Training program goals as assigned. When needed, the Psychologist II will provide supervision to more than one individual concurrently.
• Supervise the counseling and clinical work of post-doctoral staff members who are working towards Delaware licensure in alignment with CCSD mission as assigned.
• Maintain timely supervision records in accordance with legal, ethical, and CCSD standards.

Consultation and Liaison
• Connect and liaise with campus colleagues and student organizations developing relationships and programming to engage and improve students’ experiences on campus as directed and in accordance with center goals.
• Provide consultation to students, professionals, faculty, and administrators for issues which have psychological dimensions as directed and in accordance with center goals.

Outreach Programming
• Provide outreach to others on campus as directed and in accordance with center goals.
• Initiate, develop, and provide student programs designed to enhance the intellectual, social, and personal growth of University students.

Competency
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of State and federal laws such as State of Delaware Child Abuse Reporting laws, FERPA, Title IX, and Clery Act.
• Maintain professional licensure and professional competence through appropriate continuing education opportunities.

Other
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Perform special projects in a timely manner as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
• Licensed Psychologist in State of Delaware (or license eligible in Delaware).
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of the development of emerging adults; organizational and group dynamics, and student development issues and theory.
• Effective interpersonal communication and team skills are required.
• Excellent assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning skills.
• Ability to assess and record symptoms, reactions, and treatment progress.
• Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of care, including FERPA.
• Ability to use independent judgment; ability to manage confidential information.
• Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
• Understanding of State of Delaware Child Abuse Reporting law, FERPA, Title IX, Clery Act, and trends in legal liability within college counseling center operations.
• Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community and rapidly changing technical environment.

• Demonstrates an understanding and consideration of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures, and backgrounds.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records, computer skills, and web navigation abilities.
Special Requirement:
• Flexible work schedule required. Position may require early mornings, evening, and weekend hours.
