The candidate will serve as a key member of research teams across the College, supporting faculty research by providing expertise in study design, advanced statistical analysis, and collaboratively contributing to grant applications and research dissemination. The appointee will hold a continuing-track (CT) faculty appointment affiliated with one of the College’s departments, aligned with the candidate’s expertise and research interests. The position is primarily research-focused, with additional responsibilities including teaching one course per year and engaging in departmental and college service. The candidate should be proficient in statistical software packages such as R and SAS, with experience in Stata, JMP, Python, Mplus, or SPSS considered an asset. Experience in designing statistical approaches for clinical trials and complex/intensive longitudinal studies, and conducting data analysis, is highly desirable. Responsibilities include: (1) contributing to grant applications by conducting power/sample size calculations, developing analysis plans, drafting analysis sections, and serving as senior personnel; (2) recommending and performing novel or optimized analytic methods to ensure reproducibility, robustness, and scientific rigor; and (3) supporting manuscript and grant report development through data visualization and writing the methods and results sections. Experience with grant-funded projects is essential. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills are critical for success in this key role, which involves collaborating with diverse research teams across the College.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, quantitative psychology, research methodology, or other related field from an accredited institution is required. One of the oldest institutions of higher education in the United States, the University of Delaware has a rich history of contributing scientific insights and new ideas, fostering enlightenment, transforming lives, and changing the world. Today, under the leadership of Interim President Laura Carlson, the University is committed to building on this legacy to meet the complex challenges facing the globe. The University’s foremost priority remains to ensure the success of every student, and this commitment dates to our roots as a small private academy founded in 1743. From that early school, which educated three signers of the Declaration of Independence, UD has grown into a research-intensive, technologically advanced institution that is at the forefront of innovation in the classroom, in the laboratory, and in the community.

Located in scenic Newark, Delaware, within 2-3 hours of New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C., the University is a Land Grant, Sea Grant, Space Grant, and Carnegie Research University (with very high research activity, a designation accorded to fewer than 3% of degree-granting institutions in the U.S.), and with external funding exceeding $200 million. UD has been ranked #43 among the top public schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report in its 2026 Best Colleges rankings, which evaluate more than 1,700 U.S. colleges and universities. In addition, UD also ranked #88 among all national universities, #55 in the nation for best colleges for veterans, and was recognized as one of the 207 national universities as a Best Value school. A state-assisted, privately governed institution, the University enrolls approximately 19,000 undergraduate and 4,500 graduate students.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:  Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Faculty at the University have regularly received annual cost-of-living and merit salary increases, and the benefits package is one of the best in the nation. Relocation and professional development funds are available and negotiable.

TO APPLY: Review of applications will begin on January 12, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled. Nominations and expressions of interest will be held in confidence and references will be contacted only with the candidate’s permission.  Applicants should upload a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three references. The letter of application and CV will be shared with the search committee.
