Under general direction of the AVP, Finance & Cost Analysis, the Assistant Director will support the university’s central analytic platform and Anaplan user community, working in close collaboration within the Department of Decision Support and the broader university community to ensure access to quality data products, access and training needed for strategic decision-making.

Duties include: review new and existing data and information products and ensure that access, documentation, and the user community at large are resourced for success; design, develop and deploy sophisticated Anaplan financial, budget and student models; support the data governance process at the university, evaluating, understanding, and documenting business process at all levels across campus, and providing unbiased centralized perspective of the distributed data needs of the campus and how they interrelate; supervise a team of technical and analytic staff assigned to work on disparate administrative data systems and support their creation of information products for university decision-makers; prototype and build Tableau dashboards and Anaplan workspaces using existing data models; lead Agile development processes and manage the Department’s portfolio of projects and requests; establish data models, data products, and business processes, and maintain appropriate documentation, using relevant tools, such as GitHub; collaborate with stakeholders to organize and structure the university’s data systems to support analytics, integrated planning, and evidence-based decision making; and ensure quality control and development standards for new data products, systems, and platforms; work with stakeholders in the development of mid and long-range predictive enrollment, space, staffing, and financial models that support strategic planning efforts and executive decision-making.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Information Systems, or a related field and 6 years of experience or alternatively, a Master’s degree in same and 4 years of experience creating reusable data sources from an enterprise data warehouse (e.g. AWS Redshift), designing and deploying financial, budget, forecasting, and student models, using relational databases and SQL, designing databases and data warehouses, coordinating large user groups of administrative data platforms, performing Agile project management, data governance and regulatory compliance, and using business intelligence and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau) for process automation and efficiency optimization. Remote work permitted within the same MSA 3 days per week.
